Question about Onkyo Audio Players & Recorders

I have an Onkyo TX 8555 Stereo Receiver that overheats when I switch the A/B switch to the B choice. What could be causing this? I have it connected to small shelf speakers.

Owley17, it is typical of our units to run how that is how they are built. Please be sure that you have plenty of room on top and behind the unit for proper ventilation, Thanks, JT

We have the same model and I have noticed that it runs really hot, whether On or on Standby. Looks like I may need to open it and check for dust.

How old is the receiver? is it possible it has gotten too dusty? i know dust in certain parts will definitely cause over heating.

Planning to ship this appliance for a move, but noticing that it has been running really hot lately, whether on On or on Standby. Maybe it is time to let go and replace it on the other end?

It would have been running hot because of dust clogged ventillation on the receiver get it cleaned by a professional by opening the top cover - DO NOT BLOW AIR BY AN AIR BLOWER

How to connect Sony dvd player to onkyo TX-8511 receiver

The TX-8511 is an older AV receiver with only composite video inputs. Your DVD player may not provide this type of output as it's not capable of HD video. If your dvd player has a composite output with a Red, White & Yellow set of outputs, that will connect into the Video 2 inputs on the receiver. Your TV will need to connect up to the Video2 or Monitor output. You'll need a set of composite video cables with the red-white & yellow RCA type plugs.

Here is a link to the manual for this receiver:

When i turn on the receiver it does not go on but begins to make a clicking sound

It's either in protection, or you have an internal power supply issue. First way to check it would be to disconnect all speaker wires from the receiver then turn it back on. If it still clicks, it will need service. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you further.

How do i connect a coby mpcd471 up to my onkyo tx-8555

As I have studied on this concern, as much as I love to help you on connecting your coby to your onkyo, however it is not possible at this time.

Maybe in the future they will create a compatibility of two devices like your coby and onkyo.

I have a onkyo tx 8555 receiver and i also have a equalizer hooked up to it, i get more output/power from the equalizer is there another way to add on to my receiver to get more power? my old receiver is...

You may think you're getting more power but you're probably only getting more volume. Adding external processors does not increase amplifier power.

I have similar problem with my Onkyo Tx-SR600. It only happens when it's in surround mode. When switch to Stereo or Direct, the scratchiness go away. Still trying to find a solution to this problem.

Can I connect an ipod to Onkyo tx-ds595?

I connect my iPod to my Onkyo using a stereo cable with mini-plug on one end and RCA L&R outs on the other. Just plug the RCA plugs into the AUX or TAPE IN on the Onkyo, and the stereo mini plug into the iPod and play as usual.
