If your old engine/control has the same 'options' as the30hp, yes everything is compatible... (Electric start or trim )
The throttle and shift cables are allways compatible...
Is this a two stroke?-If it is you most likely have a primary seal going bad (crankcase seal on the ignition side will lean it out,leaking seal on the other-side of assembly will do just what your describing)Hope this helps you out.....
is it cooling ok ? run on hose and check engine block and exhaust plate cool ! water inlets clear and impellor good condition ? compressions all over 100psi ? carbs clean ?
Use it .It is a common thing with 2 strokes.Outboards have water in them and cool down quicker than say a 2 stroke motorbike. They have no water and keep the heat in the engine longer.If it runs well,,don't spend the money.All the choke does is gives the motor a slightly richer air/fuel mix at startup.It cannot hurt the motor.Hope this helps
