Question about Toshiba Satellite P35-S611 Notebook

1 Answer

I have one of these with a "Blink of Death" problem.

I was given one of these laptops but it does not work. It has what could be called the "Blink of Death"

It will power on for about half a second and then turn off.

I called the technician who had previously serviced it and he told me the power IC was probably the problem. I had a look at the motherboard and it uses the MAX1902EAI

Can anyone help with more information etc?

I rechecked every cable when I disassembled the laptop, but I didn't check anything inside the screen, only the cable which leads from the motherboard to the screen.

I thought a backlight or inverter problem would just cause the screen to not work, while the rest of the laptop should function OK.

I also tried powering on with the screen cable disconnected, this made no difference.

I stripped the whole thing down and tried starting it with all things like HDD/DVD/WiFi disconnected, still the same problem. Rebuilt it again and still same problem.

I'm sure the warranty ran out long ago before it was given to me

I think there may be a cable that are not connected properply. Check every single cable in the entire computer. Also inside the screen. A single may cause the computer to automatically turn itself off.

And you have tried removing and reconncted the RAM etc? If the warranty is still valid, my best advice is just to send it to where the laptop was puchased. You would just lose your warranty... Sorry.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy.

My tv a mitsubishi d 62527 the green light kees blinking

Called the blinking green light of death---set should if power lost when put back blink for 70 seconds or so---digital unit booting up.

About the only simple cause is in the main power supply are four 1000 uf caps that puff up and fail--provide boot up voltage.

follower power cord to supply and look for bad caps (they will be easy to spot) and see attached photos of what to look for.

HP DV6110us: 4 beeps, no boot

besides the beeps which indicate a motherboard timing issue. There should be LED blinking codes given on the front LEDs. I will include the blink codes below, but lets try to at least get the system up and running. First, I would like you to remove the RAM sticks from the laptop and just reseat one stick back in the machine. Try to boot with that one stick, if it does not, try the other alone. There have been issues when reseating the ram or re-installing it have temp. fixed the issue. If it does reboot, go to the HP support site, put in your model number of your laptop and download and install an updated BIOS. Below are the blink codes that may narrow down the problem.....

HP DV6000 LED Blink Codes

LED Component Error Condition
Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery
Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock CPU CPU not functional
Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS corruption failure
Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Memory Module error not functional
Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS authentication failure

Light turns on, light turns yellow, light turns red and blinks.

Your ps3 has overheated. This is the equivilent to the red ring of death for xbox 360. The ps3 problem is called "yellow light of death" this means your ps3 has died due to the console being overheated. The solution to this problem is either getting a new playstation or take it to a shop in the UK and they could help you fix it for a price around £30-£50 GBP.

All xbox 360 are given a warranty for the 3 rings of death. If you call microsoft and tell them that your xbox 360 continues to get the rings of death, they will mail you a box, take your console, repair it, install the latest hardware, test it, and mail it back to you for free.
