Re: 2wire 2700hg-b modem

first thing you may need to run the system setup wizard from the modem's gui. on your web browser, type or homeportal/setup or on the address bar. once you get to the main page or network at a glance, click on "run system setup wizard" link on the lower right corner. it may ask you for a system password, that is the password for the modem, if you haven't set up one or forgot it, click on the link "i forgot my password" then it will give you a hint. follow the steps on that wizard and it's gonna establish a connection to your ISP or to the configuration systems. before you do this, connect this modem directly to your computer, since you have to establish a direct connection to this modem in order to access the GUI. as for the key or passcode, default is the series of nos. enclosed in brackets [] located at the bottom of the modem, the ones on the barcode sticker, just below the serial no. (SN). if you want to change it, go to or homeportal/management, type the system password. click on wireless under local network, as for the type of encryption, you can change it from WEP-open or WPA-PSK etc. select "use custom encryption key", type there the 10-digit keys that you want to use, then click on submit. also change the WEP or passcode on your computer's wireless connection.

I need help. im trying to use my psp's web browser but in order to that from home i need my wep key. but in order to do that i need an icon that opens wireless network set up wizard and i cant find it. could it be because the 2700hg-b modem itself is not working properly?

Re: 2wire 2700hg-b modem

If you have posted the correct model, you cannot connect a modem to this router as it has it's own built in modem, so in effect the routers modem will not configure properly, remove your modem and try again as there is no reason why the key code numbers should not work, unless you have caps lock on when you should'nt or visa versa

Trying to hook up DSI to AT&T 2701HG-B gateway to make it wireless

So you want to connect your Nintendo DSI to your 2wire modem.
Here are the steps for connecting you DSI wirelessly:
1. First you need to realize that the game console the requirements for the wireless password should be WEP.
2. Open the Nintendo DS setup Utility
3. Select the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
4. on the next page just click on the search for an access point.
5. then click on your wireless name.
(when you still using the default name for your 2wire it will be 2wirexxx "XXX last 3 numbers of the serial number of the 2wire modem")
6. when it is asking for the wep key it is the 10 numbers under the barcode of your 2wire modem.
7. Select No under Auto-obtain IP Adress.
8. click Save settings.
this is the steps on connecting your DSI for wireless connection.
If this doesnt work call At&t for connecting your DSI.
Thank you for choosing FIXYA.

I have a 2wire 2700hg-b modem/wireless router, my problem is i get lag while playing xbox 360 online, i get red bar to none , while my friend have all green bar,in the tv screen, also my laptop lose signal...

yeah a better modem would be the easiest thing to do because it's clear that the one you've got is either not transmtting properly or is just the unit you'vee got has a fault in it

Slow identifying 2wire686

Are you trying to use wireless? If so, do you have poor signal? I would suggest browsing to your modems interface. Type into your web browser. Click on the Homenetworking icon. Select wireless settings. Type in your system password. Increase the power of your wireless setting located towards the bottom of the page. You can even try changing the wireless channel. Save and then retry to connect. Make sure you are entering the network key correctly.
