How to access rear of dryer

I need to access the back of the dryer to put a new belt on but the dryer is an older model of a coin-op dryer (used in apartments) and the back and sides are all one piece. I have taken off the screws on the back and the ones at the bottom around the sides as well but the piece will not move. I have had the front off as well and cannot seem to get to the back to put the new belt on. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.

Replace a belt on indesit dryer

Hello.

Tools needed to solve the problem

(A)Standard screwdriver,New belt
.

1 Unplug your dryer to disconnect power to the unit.

2 Remove the screws that hold the dryer top in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are located along the top and sides of the dryer. With older models -- 1996 and older -- the entire top comes off the dryer. For new models, the timer and console stay in place while the rest of the top comes off.

3 Remove the screws that hold the front panel and door in place using a standard screwdriver. The screws are just inside the door at the top front left and right sides of the dryer. The front panel on older models will move to the right side and on newer models the door will move to the left.

4 Remove the existing belt by pulling the idler pulley to the right. This will take the tension off the belt and allow you to pull it away from the motor pulley.

5 Install the new dryer belt by wrapping it around the top of the drum and allowing it to fall around the circumference of the drum. The grooves of the new belt should face down toward the drum. Rotate the belt around the drum to ensure there are no twists in it.

6 Connect the new belt to the motor pulley. On newer models you can access the motor pulley on the front underneath side of the dryer. Pull the idler pulley to the right and loop the belt around it. On older models you can access the motor pulley through an access panel on the back of the dryer. Pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the access panel using a standard screwdriver. Repeat the same steps as on a newer dryer to install the belt around the motor and idler pulleys.

7 Replace the front panel of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

8 Replace the top of the dryer and the screws that hold it in place.

9 Plug the dryer in and make sure the belt works properly before trying to use the unit.

Thanks.

How do I replace the dryer belt?

sorry see the make, here is how u do the job

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Screwdriver with interchangeable bits
  • Putty knife
  • New dryer belt for GE Hotpoint electric dryer
  1. Step 1 Unplug the dryer and pull it out from the wall. Take out the upside-down screws in front that hold down the top. In older Hotpoint models, they will be under the rim of the top in front. In newer models, they will be on the inside of the dryer door opening, facing up. Slide your putty knife under the top rim to pry it up and get your fingers under it. Lift the top off the machine and set it aside.
  2. Step 2 Take out the screws that hold the front of the dryer in place, which will be on the upper inside of the box, on either side, facing toward the front. Pull the dryer front off. Keep the side with the wire connections next to the dryer (so you don't have to disconnect the wires) while opening the other side away from it like a door. The wiring side will vary.
  3. Step 3 Slip the belt off the dryer drum from the front. It won't come out completely; it will be held in one lower corner by the motor assembly.
  4. Step 4 Remove the access panel on the lower part of the back of the dryer by removing the screws. Access the motor unit. Note the configuration of the belt in the pulleys, then slip the belt off the pulleys by pushing the larger pulley forward.
  5. Step 5 Slip the new belt onto the drum from the front, with the ribbed side against the drum. Re-string it on the pulleys from the back, in the same configuration as the old one. Manually turn the drum several revolutions to make sure the belt is straight.
  6. Step 6 Put the rear access panel back on with the screws you took out. Close and re-secure the front and top (in that order) as they were before. Plug in the dryer.

Maytag coin-op top load wont spin, motor runs, belt burns.

it not a belt, there is a $20 plastic and rubber coupling between the motor and the transmission that has broken.  It needs replacing.

Unsure how to access drier to put on new drive belt

    Here is my own solution...
Disconnect from mains (of course) remove top (2 screws at back near top) Unplug electric connectors (on back panel, top RHS). Make sure note what goes where! Lie unit down on front remove screws (2) holding the drum spindle cover (centre of back) and remove cover pop off the circlip holding drum spindle, and washer unscrew back panel - hex headed screws round outside of back Remove screws at bottom of back panel which screw into the plastic vent housing (3 I think) Lift whole back off. (there's a plastic lip at bottom - need to pull away from this a bit) The drum spindle will be unsupported now, so don't move unit Full access now to drum and motor beneath Get and put on new belt reassemble.
Actually, having got into unit, found could not get belt from local spares shop (it had closed down), so bought new drier!

Need to know how to replace the belt on my dryer

Take off front and put belt over drum. Reinstall front. Take small access panel off back to install belt on motor. Idler pulley pushes against belt to tension it. Thanks, please leave feedback or contact me again for more info if you need it.

I just bought a house that included in the sale a Maytag Coin-op Washer and Dryer. The coin box on each contains a key. How do I disable the need for putting coins in the washer and dryer so that I can...

    1. purchase a coin insert and blank the slot that coins fit in, then the slide will slid in without coins, just acting like a button, if you examine the slide you wil notice that there are plastic inserts in unused coin slots, any maytag commercial dealer has them.
    2. replace coin slide with 'free operation' converter, which is just a button plate that pushes the striker on the timer switch
    3. take top cover off and just push the striker on the timer, (this is NOT) a recommended option, 220v is enough to spoil you whole day)

I have a coin op dryer modle cem2760kq0 i put im a new timer in but it dose not stop runing?

mechanical coin op timers come without the shut off cam installed
there are slots around the edge corresponding to different times, that take a pin cam. the pin cam is in the box for the installer to insert to the owners specification, between 24 and 60 minutes in 6 minute intervals usually, hope you retained the packaging, or the old timer which should have its cam pin still in it

electronic coin op timers have to be programmed

That I believe is an older model GE with the idler bar instead of the short bar. I believe there is also a rear panel that you can remove to gain access to it. I dont remember for sure if it keeps tension up or down. Loop your belt around the motor pully, then find out which way it keeps tension on the belt, then loop the belt around the idler pully and release so that it keep tension on the belt itself. Let me know if you need further information.
