Freezer and frigerator stopped cooling all of a sudden. Whirlpool

As far as the icing up sounds like your cross over have ice. Unplug and defrost even on frost free. Should solve both problems

Assuming that both freezer and refrigerator temperatures have risen and the humming sound that you heard was followed by a sudden click more than likely the start device on the compressor has gone bad. This is a common problem with all Whirlpool refrigerators (KitchenAid is Whirlpools top of the line product and suffers the same problem).

Switch off completely for a day and give a good defrost. If when you retry and it still does not cool,(assuming the compressor is running) then you have either got a blockage or an internal leak. Need to then get a technician to sort out.
