SOURCE: MY SE X1 MICROPHONE HAS LOW INPUT ON MY FOCUSRITE PLATINUM VOICE PRO PREAMP

Have you tried a different pre-amp to narrow down the possible issues on your audio chain? Or ensure your preamp works properly by trying a different mic on it..

Also, if this is a stereo setup, try balanced cables to ensure this isn't a phase issue - which can reduce volume dramatically.

there are some programs out there that can boost audio, but if the mic itself is damaged, then take it to an electronics/mic expert.

SOURCE: microphone will not hook into computer

What is on each end of the microphone cable in its original form? What's the model of microphone? You need a cable that ultimately (probably need an adapter or two) would have the LO-Z (assuming its a low impedence mic) connector for the microphone on one end and the mini phone plug on the other. If the microphone is low impedance, which most good microphones would be, you will need an impedance matching transformer to convert to high impedance which the computer mic input would expect. That would have a 1/4 inch phone plug output which then needs to be brought down in size to fit the computer mic input. A music store would be your best bet for the required pieces.

When i record vocals there is crackling. but not when i test the signal ?

Hi, you can check the software your using, it might be from it. Too heavy for your system.

System configuration might not to suitable for the recording software your using.
Also t depends on the Sound card your using too.
But first check your system, You can ask any one around that has a studio to give the system configuration for his system.

I think that will help...

Hope that helps...

Thanks for using fixya..

My se x1 condenser mic has starting to cut out, usually just for a second and it seems to be when louder noise goes through it (though this is not too loud as its not clipping on my mixer or software)

Clipping can occur at any point in the chain of electronics and may NOT show on your mixer.

Also cheeck your phantom power voltage sent to the mic. Some mixers send much lower than the +48 volts and clipping within the mic electronics can happen with these. Check the voltage between either pin 2 or 3 and pin 1 of the XLR. Note that the pin numbering on XLR's is funny... search google for diagram.

I plug my Maxtor 3200 into my laptop that is running windows vista, and it does not show up? What do I do

check the interphase
1)cable
2) the electronic interphase between the hard disk and the outlet firewire or usb port going to the pc
3) if there is no spin up when you connect the drive directly through a sata or ide interphase then the drive has to be sent for data recovery and replacement as certain ata modules may not be working

Does the SE Mini use a standard cable or is there a special cable needed for use in an amp or computer?

you'll need an xlr (male) to xlr (female) to use the microphone with 48v phantom power (from a preamp). phantom power dosnt work with an xlr to jack, only both xlr.
