Question about Samsung LN-S4041D 40 in. LCD HDTV
At random times even in the middle of the night it just turns itself on and runs at full volume. If you can get it to turn down it's not long and it goes up to full volume again. We have to have it turned off at the power point. Has only been doing this for a month. We have a 'pay to view' unit connected - the company had to come and replace the unit because it stopped working. Tv has been a problem since then.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hey Devaman, like you I have just upgraded the software and disabled all of the timers, but most importantly I have disabled the "update whilst on stanby" option from the SETUP menu. It now seems to behave...
One more comment, I was very dishappointed by Samsung lack of interest, they never bothered to reply to my email, which I think is extremely rude... but then, am I surprised? :¬)

SOURCE: samsung tv turning off by itself
I have the same problem of the set turning off and on by itself. There is a circuit in Samsung TVs that would shut it down if a very loud noise occurs in the program being watched, but I have not noticed that correlation. My problem is solved by vacuuming the back panels of the set. They do not seem to have any significant dust on them, but I think the vacuum sucks somewhat inside of the TV and does some good with the fan that is supposed to be cooling the bulb and the mirror. It seems to work for months on end and when the problem recurrs, I vacuum again.
