Searspartsdirect.com will usually have the fan motor. There is no reset button and about the only way to check it is to take it out and then apply voltage to it. Remember the fan doesn't run all the time, if the compressor is on then it should be turning.
If
the compressor motor is overheating, it's usually a result of low
refrigerant gas in the cooling coils. Recharging is an option, if you
can find a shop that will do it.
OK I will give you a try and see if I can help. Kenmore is a Sears Brand name as you already know. What happens is Sears call their models something different than the number I or you need to make a parts search. Click Here=> Sears Kenmore model Number Prefix and complete Model Number As you see in the photo about mid page the sample number is 795.78753800 so the prefix is in this case a 795 LG Electronics Refrigerator. Once you locate that number I will want you to unplug refrigerator and pull away from wall. Remove the lower cover over the compressor area to expose compressor, condenser fan and condenser coil. Fill the top of your compressor to see if warm, hot or too hot to keep your hand on top of refrigerators compressor. If too hot to keep hand there leave unplugged until compressor cools enough to open the cover on the terminal box on the side and we need to do some test from there. Click here=> How to test a Compressor for Burnout Down on this Page Almost at Bottom. Don't worry this is only a windings test so you get an idea of what to look for.I want you to open freezer door and feel to make sure fans are running while compressor runs. I will await your response, Thanks, Sea Breeze
no thats a good sign but unplug it,you'll find the model number on the right hand side near the top on the fridge side, get a start device no capacitor and that should take care of your problem.let it cool down a little so you can work on it,next time send the model number,i could have looked up your machine and gave you the part number, you can read out the compressor with a meter but most likely it will be the start device.my kenmore is 8 years and i just had to change my device,i went shopping and spent 600.00 dollars on food on a saturday, two days later i opened my bedroom door and there was a stink like something burnt,i've changed out a few devices so i know that smell,i was lucky i had the part in my van i didn't even loose my ice cream,ha ha.i hope you have the same luck,if i can help you with anything else let me know good luck
I also have the same refrigerator model 106.56566400 and periodically when the power goes off in the house the refrigerator & freezer will stop cooling. Try pushing the on/off button located inside the refrigerator to the left of the digital temperature controls. Hold the button down, this turns the unit off, then press it again to turn it back on. This basically resets the refrigerator, and most of the time works to get the refrigerator cooling again. Try this first before calling a repair man.
Not cooling at all? or other symtoms that can help us get you going. Can you make sure the refrigerator is listed as Kenmore
Here are some examples of model numbers for this appliance: 106.8782070, 596.58692890, 119.909851, 119.3101279, 198.887482, 253.835123 • Inside the refrigerator or freezer, on the upper left or right side wall • Behind the lower crisper drawer • Behind the lower toe kick-plate • On the face frame of the refrigerator body Can you help locate these numbers so I can assist you with the drawing of that door?
