Paper feed problems Xerox C2428

I bought a faulty Docuprint C2428 A3 colour laser at auction. Fault was 'replace drum U2' I have replaced the drum and waste toner bottle. It now says 'Ready to print'. So far so good. I have tried printing reports off the menu. 'Paper jam' error comes up. The paper is not jammed, it is not feeding through. Out of tray 1 it makes it nearly up to the main drum. Out of tray 2 it makes it only part way up. That would seem to point to a roller, or clutch, down low only partially working? Inside was a bit of a mess with dust everywhere, I'm suspecting this machine has been tipped up at some stage, I have vacuumed it out. I'm new to these machines and some assistance would be greatly appreciated.
