Hardware I/O error under XP

I have the same problem, print and copy works fine but evey time I try to scan I get a hardware error message. The OS is Windows XP SP2 and there are no other USB peripherals attached to my PC. I am using the scan thru program that comes with device drivers.

If you are not getting any error messages, I suspect you definitely have a printer hardware problem, especially if it prints fine from Windows. Best to contact Canon's technical support with this one

Hi. To make sure that the product hardware is functioning correctly, use the product to make a photocopy. If you cannot make a copy, this solution will not help resolve the issue.

Solution 1:
Follow these steps to restart the product and the computer. NOTE: Make sure that the product connects directly to an electrical outlet and not through a surge protector or power strip.
  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Press the Power button to turn off the product.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Press the Power button to turn the product back on.
  6. Try the scan again

1. Replace the USB cable.
2 .Try the scan again.

Solution 3
Fully uninstall and resintall the software and driver of Kodak printer

Workaround:

Try installing the printer to Windows XP environment just to prove functionality and test incompatibility issues. Might be your printer is icompatible with MAC OS. This will also prove if printer is working or not.

HP Photosmart C4580 wont scan

It seems that scanner glass is not glowing or may be bulb are not moving properly.
you can try these thigs:
1)Turn ON the printer unplug the powe cable from the back of the unit; wait for 30secs; replug the power cable.
2) Try this to check teh funtionality of hardware Load letter or A4, unused plain white paper into the input tray.
  1. Press and hold the Cancel (c01235250.gif ) and the Start Copy Color buttons at the same time.
  2. Release both buttons. The self-test page prints.
3) Now check if its copying or not?
It will work fine(if your printer scanner glass is fine)

You can also try scanning from computer(if installed)
the location of file would be=
c:\program files\hp\digital imaging\bin
here locate for file "hpqscnvw" hit it and try to scan

Hardware malfunction

From the error report, it sounds like you have a bad memory chip (RAM).
If it's under warranty, contact Dell for a replacement.
If it is out of warranty, go to a vendor that sells RAM and replace it (such as www.crucial.com)

Scanner 3770 hardware problem

Hi, it is possible that your scanner has a transport locking lever or knob underneath which might have been keeping the carriage locked in place. Try checking and release if there is one. Hope this works for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
