I have sony spp m920. I have had it for long time and it's really great. My problem is that the lcd on the handset is no longer working (it only shows fragments of numbers, etc.) this is the older model...

If the hardware/physical part is ok, then it must be the battery. Are there any screws to open the handset or a small compartment in the back where batteries may be?

Toshiba laptop won't bootup with or without hard drive or with or without memory sticks

hi wvrd

you say it wont boot up, but do you actual mean, it wont start up?
are there any lights on when plugged in, are the fans running ect..or does it just appear dead...(no lights or sounds)

there is a difference if its not booting
or it wont power on

if it is starting up, but not booting to windows, post back and we can go from there.

i see some are assuming its booting up but not to windows, but till we know for sure if its not booting or its not powering up, we wont be able to advise you further till you clarify its state!

this could be something as simple as the power adapter if its not powering on.

If you doesn't hear any beeps, at least you must hear one beep.
Clear CMOS or remove the Lithium Battery CR2032 in the motherboard about 1 minute, to know which MB is hang up with processor, then put it back again & power it on.

Problem of video

It could be that the CMOS battery is dead; that's what keeps your BIOS 'ready to go', and the power button just wakes up the power supply and the motherboard. If the CMOS battery (looks like a shiny silver coin on the motherboard) goes dead, the computer won't boot up at all. It's usually a CR2032 battery; carefully pry it out with a small screwdriver and replace it...you can find them at most drugstores, Radio Shack, etc.

Don't understand?

take the extra ram board out
when a system fails to boot properly, it indicates a problem hard drive (HDD)
cmos batteries just keep the program for the chip operational and nothing more )
take it in to a computer repair shop for a proper diagnosis
if it is the hard drive ( has all of the operating system , files and folders ) replace it with a solid state hard drive (SSHD) as it has no spinning disc to fail

Black Screen

try hooking up an external video source. Check to see if the computer is actually booting up. if the computer boots up, then the LCD invertor or Backlight of the screen is bad, need to be replaced.

If the computer does not boot up after hooking up an external video source, then most likely your motherboard is bad!

need to be replaced.

I need help

Hi,

You need a floppy drive and a startup disk, because that is the only thing that the motherboard will read (i think) in that kind of problem. But ok if you really dont have that items, try this disconnect all the motherboard connectors, like IDE, SATA, & POWERSUPPLY, also temporarily remove all hardware cards connected on motherboard like, Modem, LAN, Video Card, etc. Then you also need to remove the CMOS Battery, its like a silver coin on your motherboard, and also the Processor & Memory. Simple NO DEVICE MUST BE CONNECTED on your motherboard. Then just let your motherboard rest for alteast 1hr or 2hrs. After that, then assemble again your Computer. Be sure you know how to put it back together.

648FX-A Motherboard doesn't seem to work with P4 3.0Ghz

looking up the motherboard online shows that it supports the 3.0Ghz processors but only the nothwood ones, not the prescott ones. and only up to 800Mhz side bus.

suport page:
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Support/CPU_Support_Model.aspx?detailid=323&MenuID=69&LanID=0

Hope this helps, sorry if your cpu is a prescott, if it is a northwood RMA it for a new one.
