I have a bigcat and it will not shoot a gooup

I have one of the BIG CAT rifles and can shoot under 1" groups. First Check the gun and be sure it is tight in the stock. I had to remove the front screws and pot nylon washers under them to get the stock tight!
Second. I could shoot decent groups and the they would move! I replaced the scope mount with a better quality better fitting scope mount. Be sure it has the stop pin that fits in the hole in the top of the rifle or they will move to the back and never be stable.
Third. I replaced the Gamo scope with a Leupold 3X9 varix 2. I am not sure about the Gamo scope but while I was mounting a scope I decided to try the Leupold.
I have shot some 5 shot groups from a good rest that was less than 1/2". The factory scope mounts looked like a bad fit on the groves of the rifle and looked canted.
The best pellets I found are the PREMIER HOLLOW POINT and some of the worse were the GAMO FLATPOINT!

WalMart carries a nice 22 caliber air rifle by Crossman. They also carry the 22 caliber pellets. 1200 fps for this rifle should take care of your varmints.

The air rifle i have is a Gamo Hunter Sport .177 It's accuracy is absolutely terrible. I realized that i had put lubrication oil in the barrel and was wondering if that might be the reason, and wanted to...

The first thing to do is clean the barrel, yes, oil in the barrel will cause accuracy to suffer. Next is get as good a pellet as you can and the flat tipped waisted, kind are the best for accuracy. See picture below --->>>> 216ef8c.jpg Next is to lube the pump or mechanism to get as consistent a pump as you can.

I think formula in instructions for calculating actual clicks for non-100 yard distances is bogus. upside-down. very very wrong. you know what I mean or should I quote it? not your problem, it's GAMO's....

your wasting your time with them my friend, all they will say is,,,a 177 air rifle shooting over 100 yds?????
you are kidding!
dont bother reading up all the jen, just set out some targets at 5yds apart and shoot at them till you find out just what your rifle's bullet drop is, but at 100yds you may fine your shooting at the sky,,,,

Air rifle?

Most rifles will hit whithin at least one inch across a normal back yard. You're quality is going to come from the manufacturer. CO2 and Air Pump is a personal choice, I have noticed no difference in performance, though some say CO2 is more reliable. Daisy is a classic manufacturer and has some modern, good weighted rifles that will shoot dependably. Anything with a Walther barrel or the Walther name is a good investment when it comes to rifles (not so much for pistols). Break barrel actions are prone to jam, be difficult to open once lead shavings build up, and pinch nastilly, and if you have a child or are a novice shooter yourself, a traditional action will help you learn proper habits early on. You really shouldnt spend 300$ for an Air Rifle, or even 200...Maybe even 100.
