Question about Danby DPAC12031 Air Conditioner

1 Answer

I am purchasing the DPAC 13009 Danby 2009 portable A/C, but....

The scratch and dent wholesaler who is selling it in my neighborhood had reduced the price significantly, however, there is no hose with the set. He suggested going to Home Depot and buying a 5 inch hose, though I don't see any on the Home Depot website for sale and am also worried about the fit of a non-Danby brand hose. I have been Googling trying to find a Danby parts supplier so I can find out the cost of the original hose with no luck. Does anyone know of a work-around for using a non-Danby hose? Is is safe to use a generic hose and where can I buy one? thank you in advance.

    Hi co7196,

Thanks for your response. I have not purchased the portable A/C unit from the scratch and dent wholesaler as yet. Because the price sounded too good to be true, and he made the missing hose fix sound so simple, I thought I would ask here on this website before I purchased it, so I do not have a picture. This is a link to the product manual from the Danby website: http://www.danby.ca/cms/uploads/products...

I don't believe the unit was stolen. as I'd mentioned in my first post, it is being sold by a scratch and dent wholesaler. It is a business with a physical address that is open to the public and they mostly sell appliances that have been on display at major stores but they also sell referbished, scratched and dented merchandise. When I saw their advertisement for the portable A/C unit I emailed customer service to ask what was wrong with it, and when they said it was missing hoses and I could buy new ones at Home Depot, it sounded wrong, because each portable A/C has its own manufacturer hose, and you must have the hose properly attached in order for it to work. It just seems to me that they are waiting for someone to buy it and then make that person deal with trying to actually use it. I think I'll take a pass on this one. Thank you.

Mae; I'm sorry to hear another good deal went bad. Door to door wholesale is a way to sell items that can't be sold in stores.. If you take a picture of what the hose connecta to and send it to me, I'll see what I can do. Explain the purpose of this hose andthe measurement of the connector outside diameter. The picture will say alot, I would appreciate it. e-mail the picture to co7196@yahoo.com and we'll figure out something.

Very smart Mae, I recognize you for your good sense. Often those kind of units end up as stolen because the hose and other peripherals come in a kit apart from the unit itself. If unpackaged there should be suspect that the unit may have been stolen from a residence and removal of the attachments takes to long. So, all they end up with is the unit. I'm not a goody goody, but having been in law enforcement and socially exposed to those without concience has put me seriously skeptical about any g"good" deal Very good thinking Mae. I doubt he will return, if he does ask for affiliate ID, take his licence no. down and call it in to the P.D. You are one lady we don't need to worry about.- Ned -

From your description, I would have to agree with you on the pieces being from a broken fan. The good news is, that your model has a 24 month in home service warranty, so the parts and labor to repair are covered. But, the real key is having a Proof of Purchase. Armed with that, you're good to go.
Contact Danby Consumer Support 1-800-263-2629, to file a Warranty Claim.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My Danby Premiere DPAC 13009 is leaking water through the bottom. I have attached the continuous drainage hose, and no water is going through it. I tried to manually drain the tank using the drain at the...

Water is collected from cooling mode, not just dehumidifier mode. It does not always evaporate into the exhaust stream due to design limitations.

Of course the water should never leak even on the hottest day. Two suggestions:

Try removing the hose and attaching the external tank to see if it has any effect. Otherwise, you'll need to locate the exact source of the leak.

This sounds like it could be a power supply problem. It may be very simple. I think I would first just unplug the unit, open it up, look for the PS connectors, and check/wiggle them to make sure there is good contact.

I went to the Danby's website:
https://www.danby.com/

And I was unable to find any service or owner's manuals in PDF format. The site does however have a locator for service shops. Good Luck!

DPAC 13009 portable air conditioning problem

Remove your remote control on the unit, follow the manual step by step. First, do the emergency on/off button, then operate the air conditioning using the remote control, follow the procedure of your manual. You may notice a clicking sound of your remote control. The yellow/green color of your emegency on/off button will turn to blue. Do not put it back your remote control on the unit because he may sense the temperature of the vent, and your air conditioning will not stay on, it will shut off every five minutes. Your problem is solve.

Cesar

Actually it's a DPAC 13009. We need to extend the 2 air pipes 4 to 5 feet each to reach upper windows over patio doors to keep doors locked and secure. Does Danby provide air pipe extensions? Thanks.

No solution possible, given that the air ducts going up over the patio doors are quite an eyesore. This building is entirely fieldstone outside, so either the patio doors or windows above them are the only way to go in or out.

We will return the unit and get instead one that can be placed in the upper window and activated by remote control. Thanks.
