Wifi dropping out constantly

The wifi connection connection on my Vaio constantly drops out. This happens every 10-45min and immediately comes back online about 30 seconds later. I have used it with multiple access points with varying degrees of signal strength and have had the same problems. I have Vista factory installed on my computer and have had this problem since day one. One of my co-workers got the same computer at the same time as mine and his has the same problem. When I connect the computer to a wired network I don't have the problem.

I have a similar problem. I do get dropped at times and have to restart it to get back on line. Another problem is the signal is not constant. I get five green bars easily but then it drops back to one or two green bars. Moving close to the router has no affect on the improvement of the signal

The problem appears to be a faulty/cheap ON/OFF micro switch (on right side of laptop). I solved my problem by setting switch not all the way to ON position and it stays ON unless I "bump" or touch the switch (usually by mistake).

Keeps dropping WiFi signal!!!!! How can i prevent this from happening?????

Move to a place where the signal is better. WiFi only drops out when the signal becomes too weak.

The other possibility is a break in service from your wifi provider. When the wifi drops, quickly look at the wifi signals available, and if your is not there, take a quick screenshot. When you have 6 of them, contact your provider and complain.*&spf=191

I already asked the question and then had to get off the computer. The question was how do I stay on the WiFi internet through netgear router. When the WiFi symbol shows I am conneted if I go too Chro

Need to know your signal strength and if you're connected with proper credentials. If the wifi signal is weak, the computer may disconnect to look for a stronger signal. Sometimes ipv6 is the culprit on older computers too. Disable that and use ipv4 only. There are multiple reasons for dropped internet so the more info about your system and the conditions under which the internet is dropped will help in diagnosing the problem without sending you on a wild goose chase.

Wifi Keeps Dropping

Dropouts are usually caused by the modem itself and not so much the wifi unit in the laptop. Next time it drops out, try resetting the modem router first. If this fixes it immediately the problem lies there. Next is to identify what wifi card you have in your system. You can find this in Device Manager. Then go to the original manufacturers website and see if there is a later driver for your card. If so, download and install it from there and not the Asus site. Sometimes the laptop manufacturers are a bit slow in keeping individual 3rd party drivers up to date.

I own a new Samsung Ultrabook laptop. It constantly drops the wifi connection or takes it back to LIMITED. I know its not my Wifi because other devices don't drop off.

well it depends on range, and near by electrical noise.

get a wifi meter, install it to the book.

I have the same exact phone near my WiFi router and it has not dropped my connection. Could there be some other thing that could be the cause of it? Make sure that your WiFi is not dying on you. Check both phone and WiFi by keeping the two far away from each other.

N1 Drops when Mac log onto network

OMG I have the exact same problem. I'll be using the router for a week on wifi just fine, then one time when my mac laptop comes out of sleep and tries to connect, the router drops its Wifi network (making it unjoinable for any device, not just my laptop) and I ultimately have to hard-restart it. SO frustrating, this is on v1 btw.

Dropping Connection

This link indicates there may be an issue with hiding the SSID in the wireless router. A security item employed by some users. IF this is the case consider broadcasting the SSID and employing WEP or WPA encryption in the wireless configuration for both the router and the adapter cards to secure the wireless connections..
