Wifi dropping out constantly

The wifi connection connection on my Vaio constantly drops out. This happens every 10-45min and immediately comes back online about 30 seconds later. I have used it with multiple access points with varying degrees of signal strength and have had the same problems. I have Vista factory installed on my computer and have had this problem since day one. One of my co-workers got the same computer at the same time as mine and his has the same problem. When I connect the computer to a wired network I don't have the problem.

Re: Wifi dropping out constantly

The problem appears to be a faulty/cheap ON/OFF micro switch (on right side of laptop). I solved my problem by setting switch not all the way to ON position and it stays ON unless I "bump" or touch the switch (usually by mistake).

Wifi Keeps Dropping

Dropouts are usually caused by the modem itself and not so much the wifi unit in the laptop. Next time it drops out, try resetting the modem router first. If this fixes it immediately the problem lies there. Next is to identify what wifi card you have in your system. You can find this in Device Manager. Then go to the original manufacturers website and see if there is a later driver for your card. If so, download and install it from there and not the Asus site. Sometimes the laptop manufacturers are a bit slow in keeping individual 3rd party drivers up to date.

The computer just doesn't seem to have enough range to connect to the internet but my other computer has no problem connecting from the same distance

If it has built in wifi and has ever been dropped the antenna wires may have come off the wifi card if it has significantly less range than your other laptop

Help setting up wifi on sony vaio fx401

A USB WiFi device uses the cell phone network to connect to the Internet.
You need to find an Internet service provider that supports this type of service, usually a cell phone provider and if it is linked with your cell phone you maybe able to get a cheaper deal.
The when you sign up with a the provider they will give you instructions or a CD setup to configure the USB WiFi device.

MSI A6000 has unstable wireless connection

WiFi connection can be repaired in wifi status GUI. Which reconnects again if data rate synchronization failed during change. Sometimes it may require reboot to straighten out registry and priority(irq). Wifi shared sound card hardware, which reboot will help to get it right.

I have a Toshiba M105-S3041 and the wifi will not stay connected. it will connect for a minute or two then drop it. if i repair the connection it works but it stays connected for a minute or two then drop....

Sometimes it is better to turn off firewall protection and limit your start up programs when you use wifi connection. Firewall protection is not recommended when using a wireless broadband or wifi because it blocks the signal especially on laptop computers.

My a215 keeps dropping. I will be working, surfing etc and it drops me

If no one else has this issue with your in-home wifi connection, then you should consider trying to reinstall the drivers for your wifi adapter.

You can do this by clicking on:
- Start > Control Panel > Hardware Manager

Find your wifi adapter and right-click on it from the list
Select Uninstall
Reboot your computer (Start > Shut down, restart)

Once your computer finds the adapter again and reinstalls the drivers for you, attempt to connect to your wifi again. If this problem re-occurs and no one else has this issue with other computers, consider purchasing a PMCIA or USB wifi adapter.

If others have the same issue, consider purchasing a new wifi access point.
