It is most likely on a metal or plastic plate on the back of the machine or perhaps underneath. It should show the Make, plus the model, and S/N.

Husqvarna Designer Ruby 90

Here is a video about calibrating the Ruby 76. Yes, I know it is not the 90. Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond 76 Calibrating the Embroidery Hoop - YouTube Well, the only thing you learned there is calibration was supposed to be automatic. Moving right along...

Make sure the embroidery module is seated, i. e. attached to the machine properly. Check that the fabric is tightly hooped and that the inner hoop matches the outer hoop.

There are plastic gears driving the unit that may break yielding a grinding sound. Fine wires in the unit may also break, rendering in inoperative. Such repairs call for a serviceman. No seeing the machine, it is difficult to know what the exact problem is.

I suppose you have used the user's guide built into the machine. It offers detailed instructions on calibration. My Sewnet offers a support link near the bottom of its page. The dealer locator is supplied for your convenience. My apologies for not being of more assistance. I am uncertain of the problem.

Why is my huqvarna Viking Ruby Deluxe sewing backwards?

The problem is that instruction for machine repair are pretty specific to the brand and model. For instance the two videos below are for Husqvarna Vikings but not necessarily for your model.

But first, here is a page which may direct you to corporate support for the machine:

http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/cmsctx/culture/en-US/-/support/DESIGNER-RUBY-deLuxe

Bear in mind that sewing machine mechanics usually repair machines! Elsewise, like with pocket watches, you may end up with more parts outside the machine than in the machine.

Here is a link to the user manual for your machine.

I am presuming that the reverse button is simply not stuck.

Which software extensions can be used with a Husqvarna Ruby embroidery sewing machine?

The Husqvarna Designer Ruby can read a number of embroidery file formats: .SHV, .DHV, .HUS, .VIP, .VP3, .PEC, .PCS, .SEW, .JEF, .EXP, .10*, and .DST. One other embroidery file format is accepted. See the manual. It can read the .SH7 stitch format files and .VF3 embroidery font files. It can also read .HTM/ .HTML and .TXT files. With the complimentary 5D software (or a similar package), you can convert most other embroidery files to one that is compatible with the Designer Ruby.

The documentation for many Husqvarna Viking sewing machines is available here: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/Support . The manual and other useful information for the Designer Ruby is here: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/support/DESIGNER-RUBY . The current link to the manual is http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/SiteMedia/Products/Machines/Support/Designer_Ruby_manual_ENG_A.pdf?ext=.pdf . The file extensions are listed on page 9:2 (page 100 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

(I will admit to mostly using the .HUS files with the Designer Ruby.)

How do I turn off thread portioning on Husqvarna Ruby De Luxe. I don't want to adjust the settings but need to turn this off. Thank you

FWIW, I was unable to find any information for turning off the thread portioning function. Unfortunately, this appears to be the thread tensioning system, so disabling the thread portioning would be disabling the thread tensioning--something that is critical to sewing. It appears this model may have some issues and perhaps this one is particular to your machine. It may be best to take it for service.

My new computer has windows 8 and i use it for embroidery an my machine will not run on windows 8. it is a Viking ruby made by Husqvarna

You'll need to go to the Viking site and see if they have an update to the software. Otherwise you'll need to buy an older machine to use for the embroidery software.

I want to buy more accessories for my Husqvarna Viking Iris

That number looks like a serial number for your machine rather than a model number. The Iris series pretty much didn't have model numbers (other than internal production numbers). Anything that fits an Iris should fit yours. Also some of the newer Viking foots may also fit. Visit a local husqvarna viking dealer and they should be able to assist you. Also the Husqvarna Viking website has information on Accessories for various machines and will provide you with information on your local dealer from the "Dealers" link. The website is http://www.husqvarnaviking.com Good luck.
