Apple Iphone wont's communicate with communicate with computer.

My iphone won't communicate with my Macbook. I have established that the usb lead/docking lead works fine, by trying another iphone. I have switched everything off and on again. I have tried another USB port and another computer. I have reinstalled Itunes  I have cleared cache and cookies from the computer. I have also followed the Help suggestions from Apple. The phone charges fine at the wall. I can also play music on a docking bay on a stereo I'm 99.99% sure this is a hardware problem and relates to the part of the wiring that is for transfers data. I have opened the phone up: Can anyone tell me, of all the sets of cable inside the phone labelled 1,2,3 etc, is there one that is for Data/computer communication only.
If anyone can help me I would be appreciative. Chris

I'm not talking about pairing or anything to do with bluetooth.
I'm talking about syncing, or any form of communication via the cable provided with the iphone that connects to the USB device.
Please note my phone charges on this cable at the wall, but not at the computer.
I have tries three computers, none of which recognize this device.

Hi,
The iPhone at present cannot be paired with anything other than a Bluetooth headset or some hands-free car systems. You cannot sync to a computer via Bluetooth, even though they may recognize each other as existing.
Not to be argumentative, but there is nothing you can do with your iPhone and MacBook Pro, as the underlying Bluetooth profiles such as OBEX (or OBject EXchange) Object Push, OBEX File Transfer and DUN (or Dial Up Networking) do not exist on your iPhone.

An iPhone is not intended to be paired with anything other than audio devices as specified in your user guide.

pls rate my suggestion...

Take the phone, computer, and cable to the Genius Bar in your closest Apple Store and ask them to look at it. This is hard to diagnose through text; they will be much better equipped to help you.

Iphone not recognized when attached with usb connnection

Try using different usb ports on your computer. If it doesn't work then try hooking up your iphone to another computer. If it still isn't being recognized then try a different IPHONE USB cable.
If your Iphone still can't be recognized after all of this then read the article at the link below.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538

Also try restoring your iphone to factory defaults if necessary. This is a last resort. If your iphone still won't get recognized by the computer then it could be the connection on the Iphone is defective and in that case replacing the phone is the only option.
