Trying to open my backup file on my HP pavillion

I had some problems with my laptop and reloaded vista just after backing up my files on my external. Now I am trying to open my backup file and the program is refusing to open. It asks for permission to open, I click ''agree'' and from there nothing at all happens. I tried to download some registry boost/repair programs because I came across something on google saying that may be the problem but I can't find a free one and I simply have no money. Any suggestions

There should be an icon for your externalin my computrer
right click on it and select ehplore and then use drag and drop to reclaim your files.

If that dosnt work using a diferent computer go into the propreties and make sure that the volume is set to FAT32 then try again

Trying to transfer data from an old harddrive i have (maxtor, diamondmax plus 9 80 GB ATA / 133 HDD) to My HP laptop

Install the hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter case the plug this USB hard drive into the USB port in your laptop. The laptop will see it as an external storage device, open the various folders and copy the files to your laptop.
You can delete any unwanted files off this external USB hard disk and use it for backups and file transfer.

I have saved my files in the backup folder I opened by right click But when i changed the OS the backup is not opening Acess denied my files in it i cant open it and the back up is not working

If your back up is from your old "Win XP OS 32 bit" and the new OS is Vista 64 bit,the you will need to load the backup in a usb or external drive and the only files you will be able to open maybe are .doc, .pdf etc...

After installing win 7 upgrade to my vista hp laptop it changed my password or blocked me out of my laptop. I did not backup files before because I thought the hp upgrade manager disc that I installed...

Well u already lost everything because u told it not to back up ur files. So u lose nothing by starting all over again. Nobody here knows your password and there is no magical password hacker out there. Reload ur Win7 cd again and format the drive with a fresh copy. This will wipe out any and all on the hard drive including passwords.

Hp pavillion ze 4300-won't start up.

There are a few ways you can get the files off of this to a transfer to a new PC.
  1. Download Hiren's Boot CD and use the mini XP menu to see the files and copy them to another attached drive. On this website use the HTTP link to download the zip file.
  2. Remove the hard drive and attach it to the new PC. The new PC will see the drive and you will be able to copy the files.
  3. Boot to safe mode. Log in as Administrator and copy the files to an external device.
  • As for fixing the Windows OS, use your recovery CD's after you get the data off.

HP Pavillion laptop won't backup to optical drive...CD/DVD-RW; I do have 1 Click Copy (&Pro) installed as well as DVD43. I have tried to uninstall the DVD43 & 1 Click but it doesn't change...

HP Pavillion laptops and every others laptops do require CD/DVD recordable for backup not CD/DVD rewritable. Try to use a CD/DVD recordable to see what will happen first.
