Question about Hayward H-series Electronic Gas Pool Heater H400

1 Answer

I have an H400 pool heater that is lit on standby but will not move to the spa or pool setting so the gas will ignite electronically. The manual says something about an automatic reset but it doesn't reset. The water going through the heater is adequate, power is fine, gas is turned on but the mode switch will not move the heater out of standby mode. Would you know the part number of the fix if one is needed?

The standby light is on. Why does nothing work?

Standby is actually "off". You need to press status until "Pool" or "Spa" is selected than adjust your temperature

Replace igniter on h400

Open the main door, locate the 2 white fabric coated wires, they go down towards the base of the heater. This is your igniter, usually a 5/16 nut driver will be the tool you need to remove it.

Hayward H400 Pool heater will not stay lit

"IF" - Hayward Pool Heater Fails to Ignite: the most common reason for this problem is insufficient gas supply. The Hayward heater LED display will show a diagnostic fault code of "IF" which stands for Ignition Failure. Undetected gas pressure problems if not investigated properly may result in unnecessary replacement and servicing of your Hayward Pool Heater.
