Using solve and factor requires correct mode and proper equation set up. Ref to manual might help.

How do i solve the equations (r-3)(r+6)=0 using my ti-30xa

If you expand that formula into r^2 +3r - 18 = 0, then you can use the quadratic formula.

The two solutions for r are:

r = (-3 + sqrt((-3)^2 -4(1)(-18))) / 2(1) = 3

and

r = (-3 - sqrt((-3)^2 -4(1)(-18))) / 2(1) = -6

Try typing those in using the calculator to get the same results.

What does error #13 dimension mean on my TI-86 calculator, please.

Three possibilities:

1) You entered an argument with an inappropriate dimension.

2) You entered a matrix or vector dimension < 1 or > 255 or a noninteger.

3) You attempted to invert a matrix that is not a square matrix.

If you need further help, please specify the exact problem you're trying to solve.

Factoring and expanding

try going to var link and deleting any variables like x and whatever you're trying to factor as they may be stored as lists and thus come out factored like that

I had the same problem just this morning...but I fixed it!

If you have manipulated any of the files on your camera...by opening them on your computer and modifying them...then the camera won't decode them. This is because the dimensions change and exceed the dimensions of the camera. Try returning your pictures in your camera file to their original state and saving it to the camera. Don't forget to delete the ones that don't work. This should work.

TI-89 Factoring Not Working

I think what you want to do is not to factor but to expand, which is the option right under factor [F2, 3]. expand((x-5)^2) = x^2-10x+25
