The cable that connects the screen to the phone is damaged, causing it to white screen. Other than sending it back to the manufacturer or having Nextel fix it, there's no fix other than for it to be swapped out.
buy a new phone and try real hard nt to drop it the a920 tends to pack up when dropped as it happened to my last a920 and even telecom went to repair it but it was going to cost more than the price of a replacement a920
I use to work for Cingular Wireless and this happened often.
Try opening and closing the handset a little forcefully. It should re-seat the screen onto the contacts.
If that doesnt help, have it replaced since its new.
Best of Luck.
I had the same problem with my phone, had it fixed once under warranty a few months later had the same problem. They told me it would cost a fortune to fix, I was about ready to give up until i examined the phone a bit further, it seemed as though the contacts on the battery were somewhat worn, I simply packed some paper between the battery case and the top of the battery, seemed to fix the problem for now.
