Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Power button stuck down..

On my sony dsc-s600 camera. Will not power on. Have changed batteries etc. There was nothing spilled on it or anything like that. The button itself can be lifed a bit and is not wedged in its socket.. there is just no push from the contact point below to push it up..seems to be held down in that position from something below it. I took the outer shell off and could only get a sideways look at it under the top cover and I saw a little contact point below the button, however I could not reach it to have a better look. The button is housed in a thin plastic strip which seems to be rather weak for normal use, almost like a piece of trim. Is this a fixable item requiring new parts.. or a design thing that is expected to happen within a determined amount of time so folks will buy new?

All i could suggest would be to check with a repair shop on replacement parts or something.

Power button stuck down on my sony cyber shot dsc s600

Possible that this is a mechanical failure and the switch is broken or out of place. Remove the battery and check the charge, if this seems fine then replace and tap the camera upside to see if the buttons resets.
If not the camera must be taken out, try to open ONLY if you have the correct tools and do not try to open otherwise to damage the unit.
Best option is to take an opinion from Sony for estimation.

Camera won't turn on

this is happening when the batteries are not well charged or if they are normal batteries they are not powerfull enough to open it will need wither a new battery that holds the power well ..or if uses like I said normal a few good alkaline ones and try to power it ...cause those cameras are sensitive when it gets to power and amperage it need real good batteries..not cheap ones cause those will not power it ..but just came up says battery low ..and shut down ..Ive been there with a simple Lumix(panasonic) and had the same problem ...since I use only duracell it work s..

Sony dsc-s600 lens stuck out and no power.power button seems to be too low.

Its not a problem. Just replace the drained out batteries with the fully charged batteries and press the power button once again. The camera would shut itself down.

Power button stuck

The power button is nothing more than a molded piece of nylon that can break. It's an easy fix if you feel like taking the camera apart which is quite simple. It is rather intuitive and one can figure it out as you break it down. The piece can be repaired by buying a thin 5 cent nylon washer at the hard ware store and gluing a new piece onto the broken piece with epoxy. You'll notice a little "bump" on the bottom of the piece which will make contact with the shutter. You can build a small piece of nylon washer onto it in the exact same place. Reverse the breakdown to assemble it and presto!!... a repair for 5 cents!!! Google "how to disassemble a sony dsc s600". Beware...the capacitor can hold up to 300 volts and can bite you. Hope this helps.

Lens only open partially

Lens mechanism isn't good to work properly so camera shut down the power. Try to tap the lens/ camera while power up.
