I've just published some 'Tips' on the WT945's dryermiele dryer stopped drying. There is no heat. - 2_bing.gif problems. Apparently they won't appear on fixya.com's Tip List for another 24 hours, so here are the URLs. Hope this helps - Stage 1 is particularly relevant.

These are brilliant notes. May I add a suggestion. My WT945 is built under a worktop and, as it weighs over 200lbs, it is very hard to access through the top because it needs to be extracted from the hole it lives in. I learned from the first link above, "...stage_stage", that the front of the machine can easily be opened like a door. It is possible when this is done to apply the "...Stage_1_fix" by reaching through the front to spin the fan and press the reset. I hope this helps anybody with the machine built-under, built-in, or stacked. Once again I have to applaud the clarity and helpfulness of this original posting.

Thanks very much for your kind words. Excellent suggestion - although ours is under a worktop, it's on a bit of fibreboard on top of a smooth tiled floor, so sliding it out isn't too bad a job. After 6 years I'm just starting to get new reports of 'poor drying' so it may be time to saddle up once again ... Thanks also to everyone else who's commented over the last 6 years - I should add that I know nothing about solving problems on any other aspects of the machine, so apologies for my lack of response on these.

I presume electrics show life on M/C and fuse is OK. I called Miele when I had such problem and they were very helpful last year. Worth a try.

Why is my Tumble Drier keeps beeping without stopping a few minutes into the drying program?

It sounds like the carbon brushes are probably worn down - they ride on the drum (in the top ) and determine the amount of moisture left in the clothes for drying - they connect to the drum and the metal bar inside the dryer - A wet clothing item conducts between the two giving the dryer an idea of how much moisture is left in the load - equal to how much time / heat is needed to dry load as required. These brushes wear out and need to be replaced over time

No heat when drying

I have a Miele WT2780 where the fan motor stops spinning. This will stop the dryer from working even though the element heats up. The failure of the fan will not blow the air across the heating element and thus into the drum. New motors fitted are around £400 min. I am never going to buy another Miele - mine failed after 6yrs.

Another problem is the thermostat can trip. This is a small button inside the machine (TURN OFF MAINS ELECTRIC AND UNPLUG FROM WALL then remove the lid) on the right hand side of the alloy centre channel at the top. It has two wires connected to the switch and in the centre there is a small black button. Press it firmly and it will heat up again. If this keeps tripping then the air duct could be blocked with fluff. This is my next task as mine now trips more frequently so will post back here with instructions.
Update 12/10/16 - problem returned so dismantled top of air duct having removed the lid - tight torx screws - inside chamber was full of fluff. Removed and cleaned - all good now!.

My Miele T294C NOVOTRONIC TUMBLE DRYER KEEPS STOPPING AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRYING. I CAN SWITCH IT BACK ON IMMEDIATLY ONLY FOR IT TO STOP AGAIN. CAN YOU HELP?

Hi - it seems likely the moisture sensor unit is faulty, reason?

Well Miele dryers after you start up will actually try to work out the amount of moisture in the dryer, it will calcualte the time & temp required to correctly dry the load in the machine. I suspect the sensor is not functioning proper.

I will assume there are no messages or other indications or flashing lights on the right side of the knob - it would be nice to plug my laptop to it and find out for sure..

You have cleaned the heat exchanger unit in the bottom corner of the dryer, the filter in the door and the two on the bottom of the door opening..

Despite all of these I would lean on the faulty sensor as the most likely culprit.

You may have to locate the nearest Miele service agent to help you out...

cheers

I have a Miele dryer, model T494C. The system starts rotate right then stops and when rotates left and immediatly the main relay of the house falls. After three days the dryer works fine. Is there...

It's most likely one of the heat/humidity sensor tubes that needs to be replaced. This has happened twice to my T494C in 12 years. Miele (or your dealer) will come out and replace it for a cost. Do NOT leave wet clothes (or semi-dry clothes) in the dryer for any length of time when the dryer is not operating. Apparently this is one of the problems.

Not drying

I had the same problem with my dryer.

MAKE SURE THAT POWER IS OFF AND PLUG IS UNPLAGED AT WALL
On the back of the dryer there is a white metal cover in the centre with two philips screws. Once removed you will see metal box which has elements like a toaster built inside it.

You will see two sensors sticking out of top of metal box. The left one is the sensor for safety cut out in event of the dryer sensor on the right stopping working and letting the dryer overheat.

If you disconnect the left sensor 2 crimps and put multimeter on the left sensor two pins and if the meter beeps on continuety the sensor is ok. but if no beep the sensor is bad.

If sensor bad you can tempary bypass the sensor by joining the two cables together and try running dryer on a program and if heats up you know that you need to get new sensor.

WARNING! IF YOU LEAVE THE LEFT SAFETY SENSOR BYPASSED IF THE RIGHT HAND SIDE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS THE TEMPERATURE WILL RISE AND CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE OR FIRE. THE PURPOSE OF THE RIGHT HAND SENSOR IS WHEN THE DRYER HEATS UP TO HEAT IT CUTS OUT AND WHEN DROPS DOWN IT HEATS UP AGAIN SAME AS AN OVEN.

You can maybe buy sensor from a meile dealer or RS COMPONENTS have the same sensor for £3.35 each.

NOTE: I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILY FOR DAMAGE OR INJURY IN MY ADVICE FOR REPAIR OF DRYER.
