Same issue: I don't have a remote but need to get to video 1

- because otherwise I can't connect the converter box. (It needs to be on video 1 in order to scan the available channels.) Any ideas on how I can get to video 1 or connect the converter box in any other way?

Converter box will not stay on - starts green light then switches to red

I have one of those right here attached to my computer so I can watch TV on the PC. The red-green light is the power indicator. Your converter is turning off for some reason. Possibly it is getting a signal from another remote, and turning off. You can block the converter's remote sensor with something (black tape works) and then change the channels with front panel buttons if it has them.
Mine has power buttons for both the TV and the converter, so watch out for that.

Cannot get tv to work with converter box remote control

1) RESET THE CODE again for remote contrl
2) Try again .
3) Clean the contacts batteries very well
4) Change the batteries by alkalines
5) Retight the springs contacts with pliers
6) Resolder the wires contacts.
7) Otherwise you must open the remote for clean, from dust, or oxide. or you must go to the repair shop.

God bless you

Will this tv work with an antenna or does it need a converter box?

All LCD tv's made in the last 10 years support digital tv out of the box and do not need a converter box. However if you want to pick up local stations over the air, you may need an external antenna. Otherwise if you have cable tv or other services, you can connect your service to your tv directly.
You may also want to call your service provider (if applicable) if you have issues connecting it to your tv.

Yes hello, i'm trying to hook up my Coby 12'1 digital tv to a converter box is that possible or do i need a cable box for it to connect?

You should be able to connect the tv to a converter box. This is good for OTA signals to a TV with an NTSC tuner (coax) or composite video input. http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=205&pcat_id=2007#features-tab has the manual for the DTV102. Put the antenna coax cable to the converter box ANT In and then either the antenna out to the TV or the A/V (composite) out to the TV's composite in. If you use the RF connection, you will need to set the TV to channel 3 or 4 and set the switch on the converter box appropriately. For a composite video connection, you will need to change the input to AV1 (if there are several inputs). Depending on the TV, there may be a source or input button on the TV. For other models this is only on the remote. If you have the original remote, no problem. If you have a universal remote, make sure that you have a key that corresponds to the feature and that you found the code that lets the key work for your TV. (Not all universal remotes have the feature.)

However, you should get the best antenna that you can and have it pointed correctly to receive the stations. Digital signal doesn't have borderline reception. Try antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to check the stations and directions in your area. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but is very conservative in the channel list that it will indicate you can receive. Tvfool lists the channel reception depending on the antenna type. Tall trees and buildings can block the signal.

I hope this helps.

(please note that surges from the antenna can damage converter boxes and kill the tuner.)

I have installed a converter box we have a rooftop antenna, now I cannot record, it does not seem to find channel 9.1, 12.1 etc only 9, 12 etc I went from antenna to converter to DVD MWR10D6 to TV. My tv...

If you have the converter connected to the recorder by composite or s-video(line inputs), you will need to specify which jacks from within the setup menu of the recorder. There are 2 sets of line inputs into the recorder, so you have to select the right ones. They are called L-1 and L-2. The L-1 jacks are in the rear and the L-2 jacks are in the front. The channel selection should also be on L-1 or L-2. If you are using the
RF input(fat cable) to the recorder, you should have the recorder on the channel number that matches the output of the converter (channel 3 or 4). The converter RF output is selected by a switch in back of the converter or by the setup menu of the converter.

Menu path for setting L-1 or L-2 inputs:
Setup > General Setting > Video > Video Input > L-1 or L-2 > Video In or S-Video In

We have an older tv with an indoor vhf/uhf antenna. We have hooked up the converter box according to directions and even watched a video showing how to hook it up. However, with the tc on channel 3 and...

Sounds like a connection problem, if coaxial connection was made and box is turned on, then something should show up on channel 3. If rca composite connection was made something should show up on video 1 or 2. Make sure box's power button is pushed to 'ON'.

Connect tv vcr and dvd player to digital converter box

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red, white, and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.
