Question about Dell Inspiron 6400 Notebook
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400. The screen went blank. I hooked it up to an external monitor and a diagnostics test, claiming that the LCD inverter was bad. I replaced the LCD inverter, and the screen came on just fine, no problems. But after being on for a while, the screen started shaking and different colored lines strewn across the screen. Its all jumbled up. Now, it will only turn on every once in a while, work fine for a few minutes, get all screwey and then go black. Is the new LCD Inverter bad? or is something else the problem now?
Does the external monitor display a normal image?
If the images is OK then the video card is OK.
The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp which provides the backlighing and does not jumble the colors on the screen. If you get a pinkish hue or a flashing screen then this would indicate
the CCFL lamp is faulty.
From the description of the fault, it indicates that the fault could be a faulty video cable or video connector. Try reseating the video cable/connector on the motherboard.
