Question about Whirlpool LER4634J Electric Dryer

Dryer runs if I hold the start button down..but then stops

Our dryer just stopped working. If we hold the start button down, it works, but if we let it go, it stops. The door switch appears to be working fine as it won't start at all if the door is open. If closed, it will turn on. I have taken the back off and looked at the control board, but it appears fine. All the connections appear to be good. I am going to go buy a new control board and relay tomorrow and hopefully this will resolve. The other item might be a bad start switch, but I find it hard to believe....guess I will have to see....sigh.

There is a centrifugal switch on the motor that maintains power to the motor if the motor is indeed spinning and the belt intact. If your belt isn't broken, check the switch.

GE dryer starts but..... stops

What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.
Thanks/Mike

My asko T721 dryer won't start. If I hold the start button down it will work, but the second I let go of it the dryer stops. It was running fine yesterday and then it stopped and now I can't get it...

the start button is bad. you will have to get it replaced take the model and serial# and go to your local appliance part store and they should have one.

Dryer won't stay on

The motor centrifugal switch is not switching from the start winding to the run winding. The switch should stay in the run winding when the motor picks up speed unless power to the motor is interrupted or cut off. The switch is replaceable on most dryer models but sometimes it is an integral or built-in part of the dryer motor and failure of the switch requires the replacement of the motor. Indicate the exact model number of the dryer for more accurate troubleshooting and repair advice.

most likely the evenheat board is bad, but it could be the motor relay, get under the console and check the trouble shooting wiring diagram. there are several checks you can do to narrow it down.

My Dryer will only work if I hold start button, when I release start button the dryer stops.

Anra, this is a classic symptom of a failed even heat board. I've seen a lot of these failures out there. Easy to change out. Check out this link. Catriver..post back http://www.repairclinic.com/0080.asp
