Is there a fuse in the hoover wind tunnel model 6425-920, the vacuum just shut off during operation and will not re start with the switch. What should I attempt? Thank you.

There actually IS a fuse/buss of sorts, if you really stretch the definition, anyways...so if your switch checked out good, and your outlet didn't fizzle out and blow a house fuse or trip a breaker, in the machine base, near the motor, there is a "Thermtrol". Its purpose is to prevent overheating, so if your machine got hot, then stopped and would not start again...the manuals and experts recommend unplugging the machine, letting it cool for a half hour or so, then clear any possible blockages, and try again...If you're still not getting any power, check your wiring from wall outlet to machine...then from base to switch..If your wiring is all good, connections tight and right, you might have a faulty/failed thermal regulator.

I know this question posting isn't brand new, but I still wanted to provide help for something that can be crazy making for a consumer who just wants to pick up the fuzzies and be done with it and needs to find a way to motivate their appliance to run. Hope this helps someone :-)

Its the switch. order the switch from the company or your local vac shop. 2 to 4 screws on the handle. then go to were the hand tools are kept, there should be 4 screws. then splice the wires and put on the wire nuts and new switch and your in buiesness. ( check for a clog before repair )

I don't get your procedure to fixing the fuse in the vacuum. If you could explain it , like break it down, I could figure it out. My vacuum just shut off and wont turn back on. No matter what I do. I've taken the thing apart everywhere and still no fix. I did tons of research on my vacuum problem and a blown thermal fuse is most likely what it is. If u can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

There is a thermal sensor in the motor which shuts power off if it gets too hot but usually it won't turn back on until it cools down. It seems you might have a defective switch

How do you change the Hoover wind tunnel belts?

If you turn the vacuum over there will be (4) screws that hold on the base cover for the roller brush. Remove the screws and the cover and you can get to the belt(s). You can get replacement belts here:

Check the filter above the dirt tank. If you take out the dirt cup and look where in slides into the machine, there is a filter that is probably dirty. It can be cleaned or replaced

Wont shut Off

its the power switch, hoover has had that problem for years. I'd take it to a vac repair shop, sometimes the wires that connect to the switch get burnt as well and should be replaced.

Hoover Wind Tunnel does not turn on

that is a pretty good lifespan for a hoover, but its probably the power switch that's bad. Hoover uses a very poor quality switch. It shouldn't cost to much to have it replaced

Check the inlet down by the brush roll to make sure it isn't clogged. If not and the hose isn't clogged, then probably the thermo protector (part #28382093) maybe bad. It is mounted near the motor. Could be motor Part #43576188. But I would suspect a clog in the inlet or hose, or the thermo protector has gone bad.
