Re: what is the best memory card to get and how do I...

My guess, the SD card was too big for this cam to handle..
I had a similar problem suggested recently.
When that user tried a smaller card, they had no problem.
I have used this cam, with a 128mb card and had no problems like this.
Whether the cam can handle cards biger than 128mb, i don't know!
I do have a 2gb card which i bought for my new cam and i will try it in my old vivi 3720, if i experience any problems like those of yours, i will post again.. hope this was of help

How do i use my camera as when i take photos it never saves on my 2gb sd card

With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. This will erase the internal memory of the camera and allow your card to work.

What specific memory card is required?

Memory cards should be formatted before use. They should also be formatted each time you finish downloading pictures from it.

Won't read memory card

This usually indicates that you are trying to use 'newer' SDHC High Capacity cards of 4GB or more. Older and cheaper units like this Vivicam 5024 unfortunately may be limited to 2Gb 'standard' SD cards.
Hope it helps: let me know what cards you are trying to use.

Hello my friend,
The easy way to upload pictures to your computer is by taking out the memory card and inserting to your computer directly.
i guess that it's an SD card, so most of the new laptops has this slot. otherwise you can by all-in-one memory cards reader which is very cheap.
Best Regards,

Would like more picture capability . . .

Your Vivitar Vivicam 5385 accepts SD Card cards. The largest SD Card card you can use in your Vivitar Vivicam 5385 is 2GB.

This link will take you to an online store, the Panasonic 2GB SD card is £5.99 Delivered.

Simply insert this into the slot on your camera and you should be good for well over 800 to 1000 pics.

Best wishes and hope this reply helps.

i have done exactly the same as you mate, 2gb SD maxell card, dosent function, however when we where at a family get togther i swaped cards with a mate, so i gave him my 2gb card to put into his camera which wan not a vivitar and gave me his 64mb sd card (cant remeber the make of his) and my vivitar 3720 worked fine, with his card... and my card worked fiine in his camera...

so i think its just that the vivitar cant take upto 2gb... try buying or even swaping your card for a lower memory..

i will be doing this, just havent got round to it.

Hope this helps.
take care.

"This card can not be used"

I experienced the same problem with a 1Gb card. The Vivicam 4000 only supports SD cards no larger than 512Mb. My solution to the problem was to simply repartition the SD card into two equal 512Mb partitions using Cute Partition Manager... You should be able to do much the same thing except you will have to create 4-partitions, each no larger than 512Mb. When doing so, use the FAT 16 format option. As a word of caution, after repartitioning, do not use the fomat option on your camera, or it will restore it to a single partition 2Gb format. Also, when using whichever partitioning software you choose, be sure that you have selected your SD card, and not your C-Drive. Hope this is as successful for you as it was for me.
