Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Janome New Home machine and I was using my buttonhole lever and it seem to get stuck and now I think I pushed it too much and it is off track or I broke it. Can I fix this myself? It won't even go back up into the machine where it stays when not in use.

My machine is Janome New Home 3023 and the buttonhole lever will not go back in place, which should be pushed up into the machine behind the needle. I might have pushed it too hard while making my buttonholes and it stopped working. I opened the machine and looked to see if it was something I could put back in place, it looks like it has slipped off or out of place. If I could see a picture of where it should be inside my machine, that might help me fix it. I don't think that I broke it. Thanks

I opened the side of the machine and unscrewed the little screw that controls whether the (buttonhole) machine sews the right side of the buttonhole or the left side. Inside this lever pushes one way to make the stiches sew down one side (buttonhole) and then pushes the other way to make it sew up. Now it will only sew one way. Maybe I put the little piece back in wrong. If I could only see what it should look like when it is in right! Thanks!

I did fix it. Something did slip out of its normal position. When I took the screw out, I could see that it needed to be move a little. So I did and it works great now. Thanks for you help!

Sorry, I didn't see your second posting with the model number.

I'm not sure which screw you removed, but the buttonhole lever mechanism requires the service manual to reset the position.

My automatic buttonhole stitch is not working on my elna sewing machine ,even when the lever is pulled down

you should a buttonhole button that must be pushed on the machine
either before you pull the buttonhole lever down or after to let the
sewing machine know what function to use, my sewing machine
won't let me make a buttonhole unless I push the buttonhole button
or yes, like you said the buttonhole foot could be damaged.

I am having trouble buttonholling on my Janome, it is new. It starts sewing and then stops and blinks 6L. What have I done wrong

Check your manual and follow the instructions. The error message may be listed in the trouble shooting at the back of the manual.

Probably will need to put on the buttonholing foot, pull down a lever which guides the machine to sew the length correctly and choose a buttonholing setting on the stitch selection.

Also, for good buttonholes, always interface the fabric to give it stability.

Can't figure out automatic buttonhole use on MC4000

2 things must do:
You have to use the buttonhole foot.
You have to pull down the lever to the lowest position (just left of needle bar/ presser bar up in machine.)
Set to buttonhole. After each buttonhole, be sure to change off the buttonhole then reset to buttonhole to reset the buttonhole to the beginning

Buttonhole jams - 'bl' what do I do?

Hi,
Have just had the same thing. Found out that the BL stands for Buttonhole Lever. On pg 22 of your manual you will see at step 3 that you need to pull down the buttonhole lever as far as you can before attempting to sew. On your machine it is a black lever tucked up under near the needle. Hope this helps. Cheers

Your problem is most certainly with the buttonhole switch. Firstly: Look if the buttonhole lever, left back of machine, is push up in position. The beeping sound is a warning message. Secondly Remove the light cover, left of the machine, loosen back screw and remove left hand screw completely. Check for a small black electric switch, follow the brown and green elecrtic wire, just back of the light. If you push the BH lever up and down the switch finger should also move up and down. If it stays down, the machine will not work and give a beeping sound. If the switch finger is stuck, push it up with the BH in top position. Hope this will help you
