The most logical option would be... - Connect your device to iTunes (The same computer it is set to sync with) - Hold the power and home buttons - After the device shuts down, release the power button - Your device should then be in recovery mode, at which point you may release the home button upon seeing a message on iTunes that basically says it has detected an iPod in recovery mode.
k ppli just got ma itouch but got it used and it wont let me do anything it only says ipod is disable connect to i tunes and i did wene i go to i tunes it says itunes could not connect to ipod because it is locked with a passcode you must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with itunes so wat could do plz help
It seems like you will have to restore it which i have researched and
seems to be the only way, this will sadly erase all content so if you
are willing to put back your music/videos etc.. back, then go for it
you do this by
1) Connect the iPod Touch
2) Press and hold sleep+home until the device reboots.
3) Keep holding until that "please connect me to iTunes"-screen appears
4) iTunes says something about having detected a touch in recovery mode. Allow it to do its thing.
If you get the -18 error, proceed:
5) Disconnect the iPod Touch
6) Close iTunes
7) Reconnect the iPod Touch
8) iTunes launches and shows message as in step 4, but this time, the recovery will work
well you can conpleatly restore it by no luging it in and holding the power buton for 3 seconds then with out leting go of the power buton hold the home buton for 10 seconds then let go of the power buton and just hold the home buton for a further 30 seconds.....
after you have done this plug it in to your computer with iTunes allready running and a icon should say unresponcive ipod or somethin along those lines just click RESTORE
Restoring it will not fix this problem. What you need to do is force it into recovery mode. Click the link and it will show you how. This happened to me while I was in a foreign country... I can feel your pain. This works! http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Use the following steps to restore your iPod touch:
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and running before attempting to update.
Connect your iPod touch to your computer.
Select your iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
Select the Summary tab.
Select the Restore option.
When prompted to back up your iPod touch's settings before restoring, select the Back Up option. If have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (As long as you've backed up your device, you should not have to worry about restoring your iPod touch).
Once the restore process has completed the iPod touch restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up
