I have a 50 plasma 50mf231d at first it had the flashing red lights then it stoped powering on. Changed the power supply board now it comes on but the screen is just black! What could it be?

- no. the power light comes on and stays on but the screen is all black. There is no menu display just blackness. thanks for your help

If your getting sound, It maybe a loose connections from the Power supply board to the backlight Inverter board. The backlight Inverter board is what supplies power to the screen itself. Or, the controller board for the screen is another thing to look at. It's what puts images on the screen.
If no sound , I would look at the mother board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

If you have some electronic experience, it's best if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15. Cheaper than replacing the whole board.
