You need to install the drivers for your graphics card first to be able to set the resolution to higher than 640x480 with more than 4-bit color depth.
You can find the drivers on the CD/DVD disc included with your PC, or you can download it from Dell's web site.

You need to update the drivers for your vga card. once you do that you can select your resolution. go to dell's website and put in the model of your computer they will provide you a support page link that you can download your correct video drivers for your operating system. once you do that, you are good!

Good Luck!

You didn't say which OS you're running. However, it looks like you need to restart your computer in safe mode. This URL explains how to get in safe mode. When the computer boots the video it will look a bit grainy and you won't be able to see the entire desktop without using the scroll bars.

Both XP and Vista don't allow you to perform such an operation through the regular procedure and, as a result, you will only be able to get a screen resolution of 800×600 with the consequence that some icons and programs won't be displayed correctly. This is because Safe Mode just loads only basic services and drivers which are strictly necessary for Windows to run.

Fortunately, by employing the following techniques, you can get around this restriction permitting you to get whatever screen resolution you want.

Windows XP:
  1. Right click on your desktop.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Under Screen Resolution, drag the pointer to the right (where higher resolutions are located).
  5. Click Advanced.
  6. On the new window click OK, without modifying anything.
  7. Done, you should have successfully changed the resolution settings.
Windows Vista:
  1. Right click on your desktop.
  2. Click Personalize.
  3. Click Display Settings.
  4. Under Resolution, drag the pointer to the right (where higher resolutions are located).
  5. Click Advanced Settings.
  6. On the new window click OK, without modifying anything.
  7. Done, you should have successfully change the resolution settings.

How do you change fontz size on dell computer

  1. Change your screen resolution.
    • 1 Right click on the desktop and choose "Properties" (XP) or "Personalize" (Vista.).
    • 2 In XP click on the "Settings tab, and in Vista click on "Display Settings."
    • 3 Adjust the resolution slider to the right or left (right will set a higher resolution, left lower resolution) and then click "Apply." The screen will change to the new resolution.
    • 4 Click "Yes" to accept the changes.
Alter the text size in the program you are running.
    • 1 Alter the text size in the program you are running. Many programs have their own font-size settings that can often be altered in a view, settings or options menu.
    • 2 Look for an option to change font size or zoom. Often you can click on a "View" menu and then click "Zoom."
    • 3 Zoom to the required size. (For many programs, you can hold down the "control" key and then use the mouse wheel to automatically zoom in and out.)
Alter your computer's DPI scale setting in Vista.
    • 1 Right click your desktop.
    • 2 Select "Personalize" then "Adjust font size (DPI)," then "Custom DPI."
    • 3 Enter a number between 100% and 500% (higher numbers mean larger text).
    • 4 Click"OK."
    • 5 Click "Apply."
    • 6 Restart your computer.
Alter your computer's DPI scale setting in XP.
    • 1 Right click your desktop.
    • 2 Select "Properties," "Settings," "Advanced."
    • 3 Click on the DPI setting you want to use in the drop-down list or select "Custom DPI Setting (other)" and enter your own number.
    • 4 Click "Apply" and restart your computer.

It wont install on windows xp

Trying installing the game in compatibility mode by right clicking on the EXE file on the medium used to start the install for the game and click properties. A window should pop up with a tab called Compatibility. Under compatibility mode click the check box to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" In the drop down menu click Windows 95. Then try to run the install again.

First of all press F8 key several times before window boots and then select last known good configuration otherwise go in safemode and then set the screen resolution to minimum.

The S2209W is designed to be run at the optimal resolution of 1920 x 1080 http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/S2209W/en/ug/optimal.htm
selecting a lower resolution will result in generally unsatisfactory appearance. This is due to the hard wiring of the pixels in LCD screens.
What you can do to abate the text being too small is adjust the DPI setting from the default of 96 to 120, or even 144 if you need real large text

Its probably your screen resolution, you probably want it set to something with a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio so 1280x768 or 1280x960 or if you are like me and like lots of real estate 1920x1200

I've got the good resolution on my screen, accidentaly i deleted a program and my screen resolution turned awful. can anybody help me with that?

What program did you delete? It may have been the drivers for your video card. For future reference, you should not "delete" or uninstall any program unless you are sure of it's function.

Now to resolve your resolution problem, in XP simply right click on your desktop select Properties>Settings tab. Ajust the resolution to the desired level. If a desirable resolution is not available, you may need to update the driver for your video card.

If you need to update the driver for your card, just post back on this thread.
