There is a small cam arm that can come loose and drop out of it's location, which jams the solenoid mechanism. There are a number of complaints that the newer keyless locks aren't as reliable as older products made by Schlage. I found a video showing this fault and how to fix it but I would consider this a temporary fix -
I work for factorylocks.com. We get programing questions all the time for Schlage FE575/595. The factory default programming code and PIN codes are on a sticker stuck to the inside of the front housing of the lock. You will need to take the lock off of the door to see this sticker. Once you have done so, reset the lock back to the factory defaults and reprogram the locks to your settings using the programming instructions you can find here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8BgHP712eg
I do not believe you will be able to reprogram the lock without the programming code, usually found on the sticker (unreadable, in your case). Therefore, I urge you to call Schlage directly-they may be able to help you. here is the contact information: United States Customer Support Warranty & Technical Information: 1.888.805.9837
You are right about the support link going 404-It used to work. Get there by going to:Schlage.com and clicking on "For your home" Mouse over the "Service & Support" link, then go down & left click on "Instruction & Manuals". There ya go!
You confused me about which model-the FE575 or BE365 lock that you are dealing with, but that's no problem. The information for either can be found on the same page.
This link will take you to the page you need, to get started:
Scroll down to this heading on that page: Electronic Security-Keypad Entry Flexlock... There's a wealth of info under that heading. You will be able to see a PDF file of the original print instructions, as well as a video of how to install the lock. This is useful because there should be a sticker to be found on the backside of the keypad, with the code number that you need to reprogram the lock. This installation video (fourth item down) will be useful to allow you to disassemble it and view the sticker. This is also a great time to change the 9-volt battery! The ninth item under that same header is a video which walks you through how to reprogram the keypad to your new code, using that program code that you found on the backside of the keypad.
Reprogramming BE 365: Scroll down to this heading on that page: Electronic Security-Keypad Deadbolt BE365 This installation video (second item down) will be useful to allow you to disassemble it and view the sticker. The seventh item under that same header is a video which walks you through how to reprogram the keypad to your new code, using that program code that you found on the backside of the keypad.
I had the same issue on my 2013 Edge. Deleted the password expecting it to let me enter a new one. Since the password is unique to vehicle and not able to be deleted I went into the SYNC computer settings and reset to original settings. This takes a minute. The screen goes black. Opening the door or turning key off is not suggested. Resetting the in dash computer(sync) is the fix for deleting the original door key code.
The factoty code is found in the trunk on the right side lift support. The factory code can never be deleted. To reset and delete any added codes, key in the 5 digit factory code. Within 5 seconds press the 1/2 button. Within 5 seconds again press the 1/2 button again. All previously added codes are delete. To add your own code, key in the 5 digit factory code. Within 5 seconds press te 1/2 button. Within 5 seconds again enter your personal 5 digit code. Note that when you complete these steps, the doors will lock then unlock meaning that the command to add or delete a code is complete. You can add 5 different codes in the memory, but when you complete the delete command, it deletes all added codes but never the factory code.
You must have the original code to change it, if u do here is how you do it.
KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
With the keyless entry keypad, you can:
• lock or unlock the vehicle doors without using the key,
• release the liftgate glass,
• enable or disable the autolock function, and
• add or delete a 5–digit personal user code.
Your vehicle has a factory set 5–digit code that operates the keyless
entry system. You can also program your own 5–digit personal entry
code. The factory-set code is located:
• on the owner’s wallet card in the glove compartment,
• at your dealer,
• or on the module located under
the right-hand side of the
instrument panel, adjacent to the
passenger compartment fuse
panel.
Note: The 5–digit code (e.g. 12345)
will be in large, BOLD numbers on
the module label.
When pressing the controls on the keyless entry keypad, press the
middle of the controls to ensure a good activation.
Programming your own personal entry code
To program your own code:
6. Enter the factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed).
7. Press the 1 • 2 control within five seconds of Step 1.
8. Enter your personal 5–digit code.
Enter each digit within five seconds
of previous one.
9. After the code is entered, the
locks will cycle, confirming that the
new code has been set.
Do not set a code that includes five of the same number or presents
them in sequential order. Thieves can easily figure out these types of
codes.
Your personal code does not replace the permanent code that the
dealership gave you. You can use either code to unlock your vehicle. If a
second personal code is entered, the module will erase the first personal
code in favor of the new code.
If you wish to erase your personal code, use the following instructions:
1. Enter the factory set code.
2. Press the 1 • 2 control and release.
The system will now only respond to the factory set code.
your owner manual tells you. Why not use the original code?
To change, here is 96 procedure, should be the same. please give good rating if this is what you want.
Entry Code
The system (permanent) entry code is located in three places:
on the owner's wallet code card (in glove compartment)
electronically accessible by requesting the remote anti-theft personality module KEYCODE PID on the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester
on the remote anti-theft personality module housing
The remote anti-theft personality module is programmed at the factory with a five-digit entry code. A replacement remote anti-theft personality module includes replacement labels and a new owner's code card.
To turn on the interior lamps and light all illuminated components:
press any button on the keyless entry keypad (14A626).
To program a temporary access code:
Enter the permanent code on the keyless entry keypad.
Press button 1/2 within 5 seconds of last digit of permanent code. (This alerts system to accept temporary code.)
Enter alternate five-digit code. Do not exceed 5 seconds between entering digits or between pressing the 1/2 key and entering the first digit.
