Question about Washing Machines
My washer will not spin. The agitator works on the wash cycle and the water drains out to begin the spin cycle but it does not spin.
The motor turns into 2 directions on demand: one for agiatations and one for spinning.
It is good news since your motor is still working.
At spinning action the pulley will turn with the direction of motor so it can push up the clutch release the brake then engaging the tube to spin. After being used for a while, the height of the pulley is worn out due to friction with clutch so its length is not sufficient to engage with the tube for spinning.
You are probabbly wondering about the brakes, and probably asking what the heck the brakes are doing here. Well remember that when it spinned in the good old days, you opened the lid and you could see it stopped as quickly as possible. This happened because of the brakes were functioning well.
With all this information in mind, when you can access the front of the machine and try to turn the pulley so you can see it will do exactly as I said.
Now if you are handy then get into action and replace the pulley.
If you leave for professional, that is OK. However , there would be no baloney person to rip you off since you already known the basics. Good luck.

If the cycle won't complete then either it's a problem with the timer or a cold-water supply problem:-
If your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water.
