Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Zanussi FJR1454W Hi. Machine starts to work ok on selected programme but after a few minutes it cuts straight to 3 minutes remaining, the 'spin' led comes on (though it doesn't spin) it just pumps out then stops. The heater is fine, the brushes are not worn out, the pressure chamber and tubes are clear. I have gently tapped the connection harness between display board and module but it doesn't seem to be sensitive.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Cheers Bob

My FJR1454W was set to wash yesterday and kept stopping the timer would say 54 minutes then go down to 10 minutes and back up to 54 minutes. It would make a clunk noise if I turned it off and then tried...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Can you skip through the programme to drain? Press pause button. then press start to move the lights down to the empty cycle. leave to finish.

If you have already tried this, I can explain how to put machine into engineer test mode, which will then give out a fault code to identify problem.

Zanussi ZWD1680W Front Load All-in-One... Problem:

With the symptoms you describe i would suspect a intermittent heater element fault as you are getting earth leakage current which is tripping the whole supply rather than a current overload which would just trip the socket circuit breaker. Get the heating element checked over first as this is the most likely cause.

Check the water level pressure chamber for a partial blockage, this can cause all sorts of problems.
