Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My ASKO D1996 Dishwasher will not turn on, checked the power and it is running, but no lights or anything turns on. I don't have the water connected to the machine, could this be the problem?

NO, you should get light actions even if the water was not connected. this is a main control issue. there is a control board kit available for your unit. you will need to replace this damaged control in this case. the logic sector is damaged.

Asko D1996. 2 wet spots on floor in front of unit, (~1/2 cup). It continued to run, but the inside bottom of the machine was dirty, as though it slowly drained its wash water. Dishes mostly clean..

If you can open the panel and allow the panel to dried then tested to confirm before the panel is removed.
Use a hair dryer or a good air jet to remove all moisture from the panel and see if this works.

Water does not enter the machine. I didn't realize this when II ran it and when I opened it, it was very smoky inside. The dishwasher is 8 years old and the model is D1996.

Either the pressure switch has failed or clogged with food. This unit has a flow meter rather than a water level switch, so pressure of water and flow of water is the factor here. If the program is bypassed, the unit can run without seeking level of water in the unit. First check pressure switch from clogs in hose, then recheck fill mode to see if this made a difference. If not, replace water valve.
I hope this helped.

Check inside the machine for fuse or circuit breaker. Replace or reset. If repeats, you have to contact the service center.

Power on Press Start.Lights flash. Close door . Fails to Start

Possible causes
1. Main switch is OFF.
2. Door not properly closed.
3. Fuse has blown.
4. Power supply plug not plugged in.
5. Water tap not opened.

Please check these and let me know if any have worked.

And please remember to rate me.

Lights on the Asko D1996 keep blinking

This depends on the blinking pattern. Of the eight lights on the panel, if the four on the left blink on and then the right four lights blink on as the left ones go off, and keep blinking back and forth, that just means the mode has been set and the Start button pressed. After closing the door it should just continue on wherever it is in the cycle. (This is normal operation).
If you hold down the Start button, this resets the dishwasher. If you then close the door, nothing will happen because it thinks it's done.
If the lights are blinking in a different pattern, such as they all blink on and off in unison, that indicates an error condition and needs to be diagnosed. If the pump is not running constantly, then at least it's not because water is leaking out somewhere.

High water level is often in the pan under the dishwasher.
  1. Unplug or turn off breaker.
  2. Remove kick panel.
  3. Remove water from pan.
  4. plugin/turn on breaker.
  5. watch for leaks.

Our Asko D1796 dishwasher has the lights on the panel working as usual but you can't select a cycle and it won't turn on. We unplugged the pipe. If we turn it off and wait for 12+ hours we have gotten it to work twice.
