I am looking at buying a pitco double deep fryer. It is natural gas, is it possible and at what cost to switch it over to propane. Model: F14S-CV - Serial: G99DC09212 Thanks Derek

You need the pilot orfice, main burners orfices, a PL combination gas valve to have the equipment to change from Nat to PL gas. Please do call in a gas fitter to do the job. Have a nice day, God Bless.

Can I tell just by looking at a deep fryer if it's nat gas or propane

It should be listed on the label unless it was changed at some point. The only way to tell is to use numbered drill bits to see what size hole is in each brass orfice of the burners, usually 3 to 5. The manual will list the orfice size for LP or NAT by the fryer BTU output. Most manuals can be found online, if you don't have a copy. This will require removing part of at least one burner to check the hole size. New orfices are normally about $20 each, most are marked on the side of the brass orfice. Note: some people drill out the holes to convert LP to NAT gas. Don't trust what is marked on the orfice, be sure to check with a drill bit. Small numbered bits can be hard to locate in most hardware stores. Found mine at Harbor Freight Tools.

Hi, I have 3 models 14S and want to convert to propane I changed orfices how do I change control valve to propane ?

On the gas valve is a regulator assembly. On Robertshaw models you change the assembly (held in place by 2 screws). On a Honeywell valve you change the spring inside the regulator assembly.

How to convert deep fryer from nat gas to propane

You will need to get a conversion kit from the manufacturer. It consists of a new gas valve, new pilot orifice, and new burner orfices. There are no shortcuts for this. It is not very difficult to convert. The most difficult part is the gas valve because access is sometimes kind of tight.
