Re: Router problems.

Are you running a software forewall as well as the routers firewall?

I found lowering Zone Alarm to Medium security resolves the disconnecting.

Re: Router problems.

It may be you are directly connecting it without configuring from what the LAN IP of internet gateway and wireless router are conflicted.

solution: You change the LAN IP of wireless router then only you connect it to your LAN. otherwise detail your question for more understanding.

Recently my D-link has lost its connectivity, oddly my Mac computer can pick up a wireless signal and access internet while any other wireless devices fail to acquire internet. I tried a cable connection...

Hello, Looks like your Mac might have connected to some other unsecured wireless network in your neighborhood. First connect any computer directly to your modem and check if you are able to go online. If the "internet" light is not lit on the router then there is no way your Mac can access internet through the wireless signals of that router. If you do not have internet connection through your modem then contact your internet service provider. If you are able to go online through your modem then perform the following steps..
1) Disconnect the power from both modem and router wait for a minute and connect the power back for modem first and after ten seconds connect the power for your router. Now once all the lights are stable check if you are able to go online through the router. 2) If the above step didn't work then you will have to reset and reconfigure your router. You will see a small reset button at the back of the router, press and hold it for 10 seconds and let go of it( while power is connected to the router) now disconnect the power from your router and connect it back after 10 seconds. Once you have done this you can reconfigure using the disk provided with the router by re-entering the ISP information. 3) Once this is done check if you have any firmware update to your router by logging on to the router vendor's website and entering your product details.
Hope this helped..!

I am attempting to install a NetGear DGN2000 Router and Modem but I get "Unsupported router model installed". I have disabled by AVG anti-Virus and Microsoft Essentials ... but makes not difference. Any...

I understand that you are not able to go online through your NETGEAR router (dgn2000). Regarding your concern, I would recommend you to please reset and reconfigure your router (DGN2000). It is in this context, please follow the procedure stated below to configure the router:
With the help of a paper clip, press the reset button on the back of the router for 20 seconds (please refer to the label on thth the help of a paper clip. Press it and hold it for 30 seconds and after 30 seconds without releasing the reset button take out the power cable from the router and wait for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, without releasing the reset button plug the power cable back to the router and keep holding the reset button for another 30 seconds. Now, release the button and take out the power cable wait for 5 seconds then plug it back.
1. Connect the cable coming from Internet Service Provider to the WAN port of the router (isolated port).
2. Connect the computer to the router using any one of the 4 available ports.
3. Open the browser (like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari).
4. Access the router settings, by typing '', '' or ''
5. When prompted for Username and Password please enter Username as 'admin' and Password as 'password' (please note that both Username and Password are case sensitive).
6. Click 'setup wizard' (at the top of list) from left menu.
7. Select yes and click next.
8. It should give you a "PPPoA Detected" and then click next.
9. Enter the Login and Password provided by your ISP and then click on apply.
10. Once the settings are updated click on 'Router Status' and click on 'Connection Status' button (at the bottom of the page).
11. Click on connect button.
12. Connecting to server should show 'connected'.
13. If you receive 'CHAP authentication failed', close the 'connection status' window and click on 'Basic settings'. Please Check the login and password for ISP and apply the setting again. Please NOTE that the Login Name and Password provided by your ISP to you is CASE Sensitive.
14. Open another browser window and try to access the Internet.

I hope this answers your query. If you need any further help, please email us back so that we can continue to work on a solution.

I'm currently having router trouble.

The first thing to know is, what kind of OS are you running?

Go to start and click on run, on the dialog box type 'cmd' or 'command', then type 'ipconfig /all'
Please look at your Default Gateway should display: or

The modem rj45 cable should connect to the internet port on the router and another rj45 cable connect from the router(any port 1-4) to your pc

open your browser and go to http://192.168.X.X

The last resort will be to reset your router by pressing a reset button on the back of the router for 5-10 seconds.

Can't connect to wireless

Hi, the first thing i would recommend is going to your linksys router and try turning it off for approximately 10 seconds then restoring it. Routers need refreshing at leasy on a monthly basis and tend to lose connection. Step 2: if that does not work try the following. first click start, then go to control panel, then click network and double click network and internet connections. then click on network connections and right click on the network connection you use and click repair option. The repair option will fix your connection most likely.

My linksys wrt54g v8 will not recognize the internet

Try to do a hard reset on the router. Hold down the button on the back of the router for 10 seconds. This will clear all of the settings out of its memory. Then try to connect again. If this doesnt work power down both your router and your cable modem. Let them sit for a minute and then plug in the modem and wait 30 seconds. THen plug in the Wireless router. The issue should resolve itself.
