Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a 65" Mitsubishi HD 1080; the VCR input (#2) is not responding (no image); This input has worked for years for the VCR & recently for our Wii console. Did I somehow lock out the inputs?

    My understanding is that it is possible to lock out an input by placing the TV into home theater mode (a Mitsubishi characteristic?) how does an input just stop functioning?

It is not possible to lock out inputs. What has happened is either your connecting cable is no longer working or the input itself is no longer functioning. If you have another cable that you know for sure is good, try and use it. If you still have no image then either the input or the electronics for the input are no longer working. If you still have a warranty have them check it out. Otherwise you'll have to pay for the tech to come out and check it. Hopefully it's just the cable.

Mitsubishi WS-65315 plug in HD comp shows as 480i

Greetings,

In the input assignment menu make sure that the DTV (the only 1080 input on this tv) is set to Y/Pb/Pr and see if that fixes your issue with at least the HD-DVR.

BTW- the HDMI information "1080i HD can only be selected if TV has HDMI inputs". is not correct.

HDTV CABLE NOT HOOKED UP/WORKING

COMP 1 and 2 are for 480i/p sources. Hook it to the 1080i capable on the back. Also make sure the HD DVR is outputting 1080i not 720p. The Mits can not disply 720p and will show a scrambled screen if you try to.

Concaved distorted picture in 1080 Mitsubishi 65" TV.

This is a convergence rpoblem that is either bad connections on the pins of the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside TVs where there are potentially dangerous high voltages, let me know and I'll provide additional details and instructions for fixing this yourself.

Good Day;

Look in owners manual pages 28-35, pay special attention to page 31 and make sure the antenna is connected to ANT-DTV input. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubishi 1080 hd

check and re-solder the connections on the 2 convergence ICs in the middle power board. they are going to be attaches to the biggest heat-sink in the tv. if the re-soldering doesn't fix then replace with STK392-570 i would replace both but if you look at the board you should be able to figure out which chip is responsible for the vertical and which is the horizontal convergence. each IC converges all 3 colors but one is responsible for one axis.

HD setup, 480 to 1080 not working.

I had this same problem, got my HD installed yesterday w/ Direct TV, have had this TV since '02. The fact that is wasn't working, and Google, led me to your post in search of answers. I even went to a local retailer that sells the Mitsubishi TV's and they were as helpful as if I had gone to a drug store seeking the answer. So, between browsing other posts, and then going to the manual (who'd of thunk) I got my, and your, answer. You need to do the following, nothing magic: 1)Connect the component video output of the Direct TV HD Receiver to the DTV inputs on your TV. The COMP 1/2 inputs are NOT 1080 compatible, only the DTV input. As another poster said, you must use component video cables, not the old red/yellow/white cables. you can lose too much signal quality w/ the old R/Y/W cables and your TV still won't recognize the 1080. 2)Set your receiver to a HD Channel, which are in the 70's. 3)Use the format selection on your remote and select until you get the 1080i Standard (or whatever your preference is) format. 4)Enjoy Bottom line is the COMP inputs are not HD. Page 64 of the manual (at least the one i downloaded from mitsubishi-tv.com) is what gave me the final piece of the picture. Good Luck!
