Question about Encore ENUWI-G2 802.11G WIRELESS USB 2.0 ADAPTER (54 MBPS)

1 Answer

PC Help I was given a gift of an Encore 802.11g wireless PC LAN card to use for my laptop pc. I downloaded the driver and software from Encore website onto a flash disk and then loaded onto my IBM Thinkpad. I have Windows 98 and previous to the download had no wireless internet capability. I installed the software onto the system with the card in the pc card slot. The system went through the installation process with no gliches. After installation I noticed an 'X' over the Icon located on the 'START' menu. When I click on the 'X' the Wireless LAN card window comes up but none of the menu selections give information. I tried to use the internet Wizard to configure internet options but it only asks for dial-up or LAN. We have FIOS Internet and I'm trying to connect to the Internet using my laptop. Can you tell me what I should do to get my wireless card to work? If you have any suggestions I will try them all! This card is supposed to be simple to use! Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank You in advance. Valerie, email: rachelzback@yahoo.com

Mirus wireless lan drivers

Hi,
Please be informed that any hardware device needs a driver software to run within a PC, and the driver software depends on the Hardware Make/Model and the Operating System software you are using in your PC to operate it.You will get the Driver software of any hardware within the CD provided with the hardware part at the time of its purchase. The hardware may be an entire PC,Laptop,VGA card, sound card, LAN card, webcam, printers etc.

If you do not have the CD or misplaced it somewhere then you need to download the driver software to get going. Thus you need to know all the above information to get the exact software your PC needs. As you have not mentioned the Hardware Make/model and Operating System you are using, i am unable to give you the direct download link.
However you can download the same by visiting the 'software downloads' section of the website of the hardware brand you have purchased. You just need to Google the name of the brand and visit their website and search for the download section.

If you feel that, my answers have helped you getting solution to your problems then please give a vote.

Thanks.

My hp laptop shows "windows

This is a wireless network type driver that appears with Vista. Possibly downloaded as part of a windows update. Most direct solution, is to go to HP website, download the correct wireless drivers for the card in your laptop.

Uninstall the wireless network drivers currently installed ( not the lan ethernet ones, just the wireless ones) and reinstall the ones you just downloaded.

I also found this ( vistaheads website )

"Just delete the profile Windows has for your wifi and reconnect. On Vista go to Network &
Sharing / Manage Wireless Networks, click on "your" wifi and then click
Remove. When you reconnect you'll have to authenticate again but it
should be fine afterwards."

Which is another method

Vaio: switch on the wireless LAN = blue screen and restart!

This can be a driver issue.

I would go to the manufacturer website and retrieve the most updated driver for your wireless card.

Then, go to device manager
Right-click on "My Computer" -> Click on Manager --> click on Device Manager

And uninstall the wireless card. For example, my wireless card name is
INTEL/Pro Wireless 3945ABG Network

After you do that, go to Control Panel and click on 'Add Hardware". Click on "Next" and it should detect your hardware.

After it detects the wireless card, point it to the most updated drivers that you downloaded.

See if that works.

Daughter gave me encore 802.11 wireless lan pc card. can't find the disk to install driver. how do I install on my lap top

you would have to find the encore manufacturers website and download the driver from there ( if they have gone belly up then you will have to go to www.driverguide.com and find it on there and install it.

If not then it would be a lot easier to get a new wireless card by linksys or netgear or draytek if they do one ( preferably PCI if this is a desktop or PCMCIA if its a laptop )

USB dongles arent that great for wireless - they work but not as good as a PCI or PCMCIA one will.

I have a Mobile Intel pentium Processor with XP as my OS.

Go to your laptop manufacturers website and download drivers from there. These drivers are specific to a given model and this is generally the ONLY place you can get correct drivers. For example, go to HP.Com for Compaq and HP laptops. Go to the support or download area and search for your laptop.

If you can't download to the laptop due to wireless issues, you will have to get a friend to help out.

Note: Wireless drivers generally come with your wireless card. If it was an internal card (like newer notebooks) do the above. If it's a separate PCMCIA card you installed aftermarket, go to the card manufacturers website and download there.
