Question about Linksys WRT160N Wireless Router

1 Answer

I have one desktop that uses the wireless signal. It has worked fine for 8months. Now, I get connected, according to the Linksys green little icon by the clock. But another exclamation point icon says "limited or no connectivity," and I cannot access internet.

I will try the reset actions again, but I already have.

I am online now using the cable that goes through my router and directly into PC#1. So, internet works.

On PC#2, I search and find the wireless signal: it says "strong" and 80% or something.

But internet won't connect. Some windows type icon reads "limited or no connectivity" and when I open that icon's window, it wants me to "repair" the conenction.

    ??

    Thanks,

    Eri

Reset modem and router. PC#1 still working fine.

On PC#2, which only uses wireless, I tried to to run the "repair" network connectivity. It started, saying it was disabling the connection...

But that's it... it just froze there.

    What can I do?

  • ericmatas Jul 19, 2009

No matter how I get to the repair prompt, repair fails.

The main window does not show avialable networks -- says it can't. If I have enables other software to control my wireless connections, use that.

    I haven't enables other software ? ? ?

Hi there,

Please try to reset your modem and router. There are small reset button on both hardware, just press those buttons. If you can't find those buttons, just remove unplug the power supply of both hardware then plug it back. Wait for about 3-5 mins then try to coonect again. If you can't still connect to internet, try to connect your PC directly to your modem using a LAN cable. If you can't still connect to internet, then call your internet provider to check you internet line.

I hope it will help.

Cheers!

By the way, before you click the repair, reset the router and modem first. Then connect the router back to modem. Click repair then try to connect to internet again. Thanks

The computer keeps telling me that it can not associate with the access point. What's the problem?

Hey Rico

You might have the wrong password for your wireless connection, if you sure that you have the right password.

Best fix for this is to by pass the linksys software and just use the windows wireless connection manager.

Try this

On the bottom right of your desktop screen, where you see the time. Right click on the green icon that says "Linksys WLAN manager" and click " use windows XP configuration manager", click yes if prompt. After that, windows is now managing your wireless connection.

To connect wirelessly, go to start > control panel > network connections
  • right click wireless network connection
  • go to properties
  • go to the wireless networks tab
  • check the box that says use windows to manage your wireless networks
  • click ok
  • right the wireless network connection icon again
  • click on view available wireless networks
  • connect to your network
make sure that you have the correct password with the right cases.

Hope this helps

I cannot get my dell demin 5100 to connect to the home linksys network, it doesnt see the linksys. Can anyone help?

Check your wireless connection, is it turned on?
you should see green bars, and/or a little monitor icon with green waves, if your wireless is on.

When you are sure your wireless card is confirmed on. move next to the router, and see if you see a signal.

Enter your Wireless Key, if you have one (you do, don't you? If not, see your linksys manual to set one up.), and you should connect.

Linksys wireless connected to router, signal fine, no web pages

First thing i would try is power cycling your equipment. Unplug the router and the Modem-
Plug the modem in first and once all the lights come on- plug in your router- then restart your computer.

Xbox 360 wireless adapter not finding network

Hello Sir,

Reset your AX by holding a pin or pen tip and count to 20.
Plug Airport Express
Wait a few minutes

1. Open Airport Utility
2. Manual Setup
3. Airport Icon -> Wireless Mode -> Join a wireless network
4. Network Name -> Enter the SSID of your Linksys router
5. Choose the same wireless security that you are using on your Linksys Router
6. Wireless Password -> Enter the wireless key that is on your Linksys router.

In the Music Icon, you should be able to find "Enable iTunes"

AX will continue to blink for a bit, perhaps a minute, while it searches and connects to the Linksys Router.

Should turn green.

Good luck.

check Linksys website for updated driver and or connection manager.

check that you still have permission in firewall.

remove the software of the usb wireless adapter, reboot ,then re install.

just a couple of thoughts
good luck
