Hello phatjay_31,

It's likely that the sub has been damaged by too much power. The Type R's in both 10" and 12" versions can only handle up to 500 watts RMS. The 15" version can handle up to 750 watts. The Rockford-Fosgate T3000bd1 amp puts out 3000 watts RMS into a 1 ohm load.

I'd check the voice coils. They are probably melted.

Hope this helps.

Can I wire two p3 12 Rockford fosgate subs to a kicker 250.1 amp

It has two speaker terminals which allows you to wire muliple subs to the amp easier than trying to cram the wires all into one set of terminals. The two sets of terminals are wire in parallel internally on the amp, so it matters no which + or - you use on it. However, you need to remember they are already wired in parallel internally, so if you were to wire up two 2 ohm subs, the amp would see a 1 ohm load (which it's not stable at), not a 2 ohm.

Ive had my amp for 4 yrs pushing a single p3. Now when I turn the volume up the protect light comes on then off. The amp still has power but stops pushing the speaker. Is my amp about dead or what?

Either one or both of your channels maybe going bad. It sounds like your amp is about dead BUT there is hope. If you have had it just on one channel then that channel maybe burnt up and if you have had it bridged then your channels are about gone. It all depends on what fuses you have had in the amp. And from the age and use its not going to last much longer with constant use.

Fried 3 amps. Is it my car? 93 mustang gt. I had my original amp Rockford Fosgate punch 500@2 for about 8 years then the whole system got stolen. Bought the same one on Ebay and it was fine for a few...

make sure you run your ground and power wires on one side of the car and the rca's on the other, keep them sepparate. if you have all wires running to your amp(rca's/12v power/remote), then you run the chance of either getting interference from the alternator, or if you have a pinched wire(usually by the door step) it may short with your battery wire. Double check your rca's and make sure they're ok and also check for corrosion on your wires.

Connect rockford fosgate amplifier & speaker together

Assuming your P3 has a single voice coil (it will have only one place to plug your wires into) you will be running this in a bridged mode. You will take the left (+) coming off the amp and plug it into the (+) on the P3. Then take the right (+) from the amp and plug it into the (-) on the P3. This will make your amp push 500 watts to your sub. Now on the amp make sure your adjustments are as follows: Signal input switch is set to unbalanced for RCA input. Left Phase switch is set to 0. Right phase switch is set to 180. your X-card should be set to low pass. And adjust the gain for both R and L equally so it has equal power from both channels.

Amplifier not working

If the speakers are being driven in or out and remain there when the amp is on, the amplifier likely has shorted output transistors. These are not easily replaced in the Rockford amplifiers that use the MEHSA insulators. Unless you're interested in learning to do this type of work, it should be sent to Rockford for repair.
