Question about D-Link 802.11g Wireless Router WBR-1310 (WBR1310)

1 Answer

I just installed the Dlink wbr-1310 wireless router on my computer. I have a dell dimension desktop that is hard-wired (cat5 or 6 cable) directly into the router's #1 port. Previously, the broadband connection was solid and stable, now (with the router installed) it goes in and out, will be connected one minute, and the next it will not be connected. I am also experiencing this with my ipod touch and iphone- they will randomly be kicked off of the network. I have re-installed it several times and it still will not stay consistently connected. All of the cables are plugged in exactly the way that they should be (I've been using wireless routers for years) and the operating system on the PC is winXP pro svc pack 3 build 2600. The computer has AOL and Network magic installed, and the network magic program is one that I am unfamiliar with, however the computer's own network connections protocol keeps switching between "connected", "limited or no connectivity", "a network cable is unplugged", and "not connected" This is on my mother's computer and I am trying to set it up so she can have wireless in her house- I'm just about out of options, and we can't return the router because she bought it several months ago. Any help is appreciated!

Get rid of AOL network magic. I'm not familiar with either but I do know it's designed to help people who have no idea how to setup a home network. Log on to the routers cofiguration page and look at the router status to determine what the issue is. i.e is the router dropping the internet connection or is the router not connecting properly to your computers? If your using static IP addresses then you will need to re-configure these for the new router. Start by switching back to dynamic IP on all devices connecting to the router. It may always be a firmware issue with the router. If these steps don't work try updating the firmware (there should be an option in the config page (192.168.1.1)

I HAVE A DLINK WBR-1310 ROUTER WHERE DOES THE BLUW

Hi!

You can use any UTP cables. Here is how the connection would look like:

DSL -> DLINK WAN PORT
DLINK PORT 1(or any other ports) <---> COMPUTER

If the router is set to give out IP addresses automatically(DHCP), you should be able to connect flawlessly.
