simultaneous with battery replacement the lens is retracted.

When I try to use the zoom there is a motor and gear sound as if trying to move the lens without success. Kodak tells me that it can't be fixed - parts are no longer made for this camera - and it is only 5 years old.

Sorry but there not lying to you, these LS443 kodak camera's are very expensive to repair everything is hooked together, one part goes bad and you have to replace just about half the camera. For a camera thats suppose to be worth $500.00 it is a real lemon as far as Kodak camera's go. I have a old Kodak DX 3700 3.1 and it works great bought it on ebay for $20.00 and had it for 3 years and have used it alot, my point is the LS 443 has many more features but it was not made to last, Kodak screwed up they are aware of all the problems with this camera but will not stand behind the product

Error E45 is a lens stuck error and appears if there is an obstruction in the lens gears. The obstruction is usually just dust or something of the like and can be resolved by gently tapping on the camera lens with your hand. Here is a thread where I suggested the same and it seems to have worked for a lot of people

Worth a try before you send it in to Kodak for repair. Don't hit it too hard as the lens may break.

Camera V705 has a error 45 on screen. What is this I tried everything Kodak

This error message means that the lens is stuck. Kodak say that the only solution is repair, but I have read elsewhere that they no longer offer repair service for this older model.

Since your camera is probably worthless, you may wish to try unorthodox methods to attempt to free the lens, such as trying to turn it on/off in unusual angles e.g. upside down. A good shake probably wouldn't hurt either - point the lens downwards in the hope of dislodging something.

Unfortunately, given the number of owners reporting this error, I feel it's probable that the motor is prone to failure, but the error code is reporting it as a sticking lens.

Error45 Kodak easy share Ls743 LENS will not retract

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Andrea

After long time battery is down and i charge it,but to put the camera on is shown camera error # E 45 that i should see manual guide.what can i do.the model is LS743

E45 is a lens error and can only be fixed via a repair.

However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

Fixing your problem could be as simple as cleaning the battery contacts in the camera, or the solution could be a lot more complex and expensive. Here's a link to the Kodak Help Center - it provides a simple Q&A format to diagnose the problem and propose a solution.

Just had the same problem. Try tapping the lens smartly in the palm of your hand. It cures the problem. Almost certainly something slightly stuck or a poor contact. its the gentle version of whack it with a hammer, basically.
