If the player is in "Media Manager" mode, you'll want to use a media manager like Best Buy Digital Media Store, or Windows Media Player. If the unit is in File & Folder mode (mass storage) you should be able to load and/or delete files as you would any USB drive.

This switch is located here:
Menu - Settings - USB Mode

If this does not work, you can re-format to FAT-32 and try from a clean slate.

For the Mac user, there are secondary files that are created by the Mac that start with "._". These will need to be removed as the player will attempt to play those files. For use on the Mac, be sure to use the File & Folder mode (mass storage) as the MTP mode is not supported.

Additional information for those who wish to "delete" media files:

You cannot delete any files from the internal memory of the player without using a PC. The player does not support the ability to delete files on the device from the device interface.

To delete files you will need to connect to a PC and manualy remove what you do not want. For how to accomplish this, see my previous post.

How to delete songs put onto mp3 by another computer

If you wish to remove all of the music from your device, follow these steps

1. Press the Menu button
2. Select "settings"
3. Select "system"
4. Select "erase all"

If you wish to remove certain songs but not all, Insignia recommends using Best Buy Rhapsody to manage the files on your device. The program recognizes the MP3 player and Files can be dragged between your MP3 player and Rhapsody. Even tho this perticular model is discontinued, they still have the manual online. Go to the website and put the Model number in and click the appropriate model(it shows NS-DA1G and NS-DA2G). The next page has all the manuals and information you should need

I want to get a replacement CD for Insignia NS-DA2G

This player does not allow multiple sync parters to prevent piracy. If you are syncing it to a new computer you must re-initialize the player and erase the songs.

Wish the News was Cheerier.

Mp3 player keeps getting SYNC notice

For NS-DA1G and NS-DA2G: If you are receiving a SYNC notice, your DRM media license has expired. If you are using a media manager like Best Buy Digital Media Store or Windows Media Player. you will first need to authorize the player as an MTP device (device authorized to play Digital Rights Management song files) and then re-acquire the licenses for the tracks. There should be a button that allows this function in your media software.

If you want to remove your DRM tracks, got to:
MENU - Settings - USB - File & Folder

This puts your player into Mass Storage Mode. Once in this mode the player will act like a USB drive and you can navigate to and delete your unwanted files.

Cant Install Or Replay Playlists NS-DA2G

I called insignia. An extremely rude cust. service rep. told me that the player doesn't work with itunes playlists and is ONLY mac compat. as a storage device.

What a crap answer! I actually can get songs on the thing and they play, but playlists are a lost cause.

Sometimes technology sucks.......
