I have a Virgin internet modem (NTL Home 250) and a ZyXEL wireless router. I can receive the internet directly through the modem, but when I try to get it through the router (even with a cable, not wirelessly), I can't. I thought I'd filled in all the fields right when I was configuring the router, but now I feel I couldn't have done, but I don't know what's wrong.
Any help you give me would be very useful.
NB I don't really know much about computing, so I'm not going to understand anything too technical.
I do not have this hardware however from the internet I see a simple recommendation -- get the modem working with a direct connected computer. Then power off the modem and connect the wireless router also powered off. Then power on the modem, then power on the router. Inidications are that this will result in a functioning router.

We have a 3000 sq ft split level house, so range is critical (could we extend range with antennas, access points)?
Stability and reliability are also critical
We use a comcast cable modem
Must support mixed environment - 2 Macs connecting wirelessly, 2 PCs (1 with a wired connection)
We all want to be able to share a printer (which will connect to router with a wired connection)
Network attached storage, media streaming - I'm not worried about these now, looking for basic connectivity. Though would be great if I could grow into this in the future...

I Have 4 computers connected to a d1-604 router and can only connect to the service with one they all worked at one time. I have avg virus protection on 3 computers and I have just instaled Avast on the other. The one that works has avg protection. I have Contacted my provider and they checked the conection and think it might be the Firewall in the Router.
