Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

HP 6110 Printer jams after 1 sheet

The cartridges do not slide all the way along the rod and get jammed. There is a lot of graunching noise as it prints. The cartridges are now on the left hand side. Looking inside the front of the machine you can see that the "toothed belt" at the back has a damaged part.
Any ideas for a solution?
Can this be user-replaced if one can obtain it, as part of the solution?

Please try the bellow mentioned troubleshooting steps to help elliminate the paper jam and noise issue for your printer:

Things that cause a carriage jam error:

Dirty encoder strip.

Damaged encoder strip.

Encoder strip spring mount out of position so strip is slack.

Encoder strip not threaded through the emitter/detector that reads the lines on the strip. (just fixed a 5550 with this problem)

Emitter/detector that reads the lines on the strip is bad, this is part of the carriage PCA, (board).

Carriage stuck on side because service station is not releasing it.

Carriage stuck due to being tilted at wrong angle, if it's stuck a few inches from the right it needs to move farther to the right to be released, stuck a few inches from the left end move it farther to the left. (instructions probably on HP web site, they are there for the DeskJet 5550)

Carriage binding on rail due to ink build-up or lack of lubrication, (be careful what you use to lube).

Bad carriage motor.

Bad carriage drive belt.

Some machines have a timing disc on the service station motor and may indicate a carriage jam if the service station motor does not turn.

The cause could also be a loose cable connection on a small circuitboard inside the printer (The one that controlled the paper jam sensors) I fixed it by saudering the leads to the board until I had a good connection again.

Occasionally, media becomes jammed during a print job. An error in the software program and a jam message on the printer control panel display indicate a media jam. To prevent a jam, see the following instructions:
  • Only print on media that meets HP specifications.
  • Only print on media that is not wrinkled, folded, or damaged.
  • Make sure that the printer is clean.
  • Make sure that the input trays are loaded properly and are not too full. See the start guide for more information about loading input trays.
When adding new media, always remove all of the media from the input tray and straighten the stack of new media. This helps prevent multiple sheets of media from feeding through the printer at one time, which reduces media jams

Clearing a media jam


CAUTION: Media jams might result in loose toner on the page. Use cold water to wash toner off of clothes, as hot water will permanently set the toner into fabric. To remove toner from hands, wash hands in cold water.
CAUTION: Do not use a sharp object, such as a pencil or scissors, to remove jammed media.
NOTE: When clearing jams, including jams in the output bin, always push the print-cartridge-door release to open the top cover, and remove the print cartridge. Keep the top cover open and the cartridge out until the jam has been cleared. Opening the top cover and removing the print cartridge relieves tension on the printer rollers, which makes removing jammed pages easier.


Push the print-cartridge-door release and open the top cover.

Grasp the handle of the print cartridge and remove it. Set it aside.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light any longer than necessary. Place the print cartridge in a paper bag or other opaque container until it can be placed back in the printer.

With both hands, grasp the side of the media that is most visible (this includes the middle), and carefully pull it free from the device.

When the jammed media is removed from this area, replace the print cartridge.

Press the supporting springs, and close the top cover.
Open the media input tray and remove any media from the tray.

Slide the media guides inward as far as they will go. Press and hold down the tabs inside the media input tray, and slide the media input tray out of the printer.

Replace the input tray into the device.

After clearing the media jam, it may be necessary to shut down the printer, and then turn it on again.

NOTE: To add new media, remove all of the media from the input tray, straighten the stack of media after adding the new media, and then place the stack in the tray.

CAUTION: Do not use a sharp object, such as a pencil or scissors, to remove jammed media.
If the media has jammed where it exits the printer, grasp the leading edge of the media and pull the media out through the output bin.

NOTE: If the printer is shut off before clearing the media jam, turn it on again, and then restart the printing or copying job.
Tips to avoid media jams
Make sure the automatic document feeder (ADF) media lever is in the correct position for the media being used. Slide it to the single-sheet setting (to the right) when scanning on thick media. Slide it to the multiple-sheet setting (to the left) when scanning on regular media.
Make sure that the input tray is not overfilled. The input tray capacity varies depending on the type of print media that is used.
Check that the input tray is securely in place.
Do not add print media into the input tray while the printer is printing.
Use only HP-recommended media types.
Do not let print media stack up in the output bin. The print media type and the amount of toner used affect the output bin capacity.
Check the power connection. Make sure that the power cord is firmly connected to both the device and the power supply box. Plug the power cord into a grounded AC power outlet.
Media jams occur in the automatic document feeder (ADF)

Occasionally, media becomes jammed during a copy, scan, or fax job.

A software error message indicates a media jam, and the Doc feeder jam Clear, Reload message appears on the printer control panel display to indicate a jam.
  • The ADF input tray is loaded incorrectly or is too full.
  • The media does not meet HP specifications.
Typical automatic document feeder (ADF) jam locations Input tray areas: If the page is sticking out of the input tray, try to remove it gently from the input tray without tearing the page.

Automatic document feeder (ADF) media lever If a thick media is being used, slide the media lever to the single-sheet setting (to the right). Load a single sheet of media into the ADF.
When the copying, scanning, or faxing jobs are complete, slide the ADF media lever back to the multiple-sheet setting (to the left).

yes, that is a carriage jam and not paper, the grinding is from the clean station that gets blocked with dried ink and cant move. you need to open the printer and clean the ink off of the clean station so it can clean properly and not cause a carriage jam.

Cartridge jam...cartridge will not move to the left...stays right


turn off the printer and manually move the ink cartridges to the position that you can remove the ink cartridge.
turn on the printer without the ink cartridge. The printer will tell you, you need a ink cartridge, open the printer and insert the ink cartridge as described in the manual.

Carriage jam


Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.

After opening door printer cartridges do not slide to middle


Hi

When you close the door do you notice that it makes lots of noises like the carriage is getting stuck somewhere???

If yes then you need to really watch this and see where it is getting stuck it is most likely to be a prong that has come loose or the slide next to the carriage jam on the far right hand side has become very dirty.

Also check where the carriage sits make sure that is not full off ink USE GLOVES putting your hands in the printer it can get very messy,
