My Insignia Converter boxes - 7-19-09

My Insignia Converter boxes are not working in a new house we are living in. Previous to this house, and after Obama flipped the switch, we received many, many channels clearly without having to mess with the antenna each time. When we moved, we simply lifted the TV, vcr, dvd and the converter box and carried them in my car to the house. Plugged them in and we just receive two stations and that is with alot of movement of the antenna. Both boxes are doing the same thing. What can I do?

My uncle has analog rabbit ears and lives two miles from me. His converter box works fine. I have a similar antenna purchased at Radio Shack. Could this problem be anything else other than going to get a powered dtv antenna that I will need to install on my roof? There is a big antenna on the roof already but as of now, I am not connected to it. Thank you!

Switch to a powered DTV antenna.
Your analog antenna may be too far out of range to effectively pick up signal.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Try the big one first - it will give you better range.

Insignia Converter Box - need remote

You may have to order one from Insignia. Converter boxes tend to use unique codes so universal remotes don't work

I own an Insignia flat screen tv, NS-LCD27, & I was given the Insignia converter box, NS-DXA1; how do I program tv remote for the box? Thanks, frances b.

The digital to analog converters did not exist when the TV was built and the remote programmed. Thus you will have more luck programming the converter box's remote to control the TV. (At least with my converter box, the included remote could only turn on and off the TV. It would only change channels on the converter.)

Most universal remotes only have codes for devices released 6 months or more before the TV was programmed. So a new universal remote will probably control both the TV and the converter box. (Program the converter box using a code for LG or Zenith set top boxes if Insignia isn't listed. LG makes Insignia video products for Best Buy.) The remotes that are programmable by a USB connection to a computer are the fastest to set up.

A replacement remote for your TV is available here: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/partfinder.aspx?brand=&mdl=NS-LCD27&mode=part . An exact replacement remote for the converter box can be purchased at: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=13055197980390&smodel=NSDXA1&brand_pn=INSIGNIA_NSDXA1 . The manual for the converter box (as a PDF) is here: http://cbsdallas.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/insignia-ns-dxa1-manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Remote for Insignia diverter box needs reprogramed

Try removing the battery, pressing all of the remote's buttons, and installing a new battery. This will resolve most remote control problems.

Hooking actual live coaxial from Cable Co. to Insignia Converter Box ...

Based on the specs that I have read I am going to say you cannot hook up cable to the converter. Best thing to do would be to call cable company that provides service there and see if it was turned off on the billing side they probably just didn't come out and disconnect from the pole. That might give you service but missing some features such as tv guide channel. Now some tv's have tv guide built into them and maybe in the move that feature on the tv was turned off it they were using it that way before. Here is what the specs say about that converter:

Use this digital-to-analog converter to convert digital TV broadcast signals to analog signals on analog TVs with antenna-based reception.
