Question about SanDisk 4GB microSDHC Memory Card

1 Answer

Write Protection I just bought a PNY micro SDHC memory card for my Blackberry 8110. When I put it in my card reader and then in my laptop (Microsoft Office 2007) and try to upload music it tells me that the memory card is "write-protected" how do I solve this?

There is a lock feature on the card and see if you can move it the other direction if so try it then. that lock keeps from putting anything on card and taking anything off. If that does not work try to format it in the laptop first.

Pny sdhc card protected

Mini SD cards, or MicroSD cards, are used in digital cameras and portable media players to house digital media files.

MicroSD cards can house anything from 2GB to 32GB of information.
A write-protection feature gives the owner the ability to lock the MicroSD card to keep their files secure.

If you have a MicroSD card that is write-protected, you can un-write-protect it with a flip of a switch.
Insert your MicroSD card into the adapter that came with it.
Put the data side of the MicroSD card into the data side of the adapter.

Look for the write-protection switch on the left side of the SD adapter.
Flip the switch to the side that reads "Off."

Remove the MicroSD card from the adapter and replace it in the device you were using it with.

or you might

Feel along the lower right and left sides of the Micro SD card to find out if it has a built in write protection switch.

Move the switch over to the "On" position to turn on the write protection feature.
Check the front ports on your computer and see if it already has a built in card reading unit.

Purchase an external card reader that plugs into a USB port if your computer does not already have an internal card reader (see below).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=card+reader&x=0&y=0

Plug the card reader into any open USB port on the computer.
Power on the computer and let the operating system finish loading.

Insert the card into the Micro SD slot on the card reader.
Wait for a new window to appear that will ask what action you want to take with the Micro SD card.

Click on the link that says "Open a folder to view files."
Right-click on a file if there is just one specific file you want to enable write protection for.

Click on the "Properties" link from the menu that will pop up.
Navigate to the "General" tab.

Click on the box marked as "Read Only" and then close the Properties window.
Close the window and then double-click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop if you want to enable write protection for every file on the Micro SD card.

Right-click on the name of your Micro SD card in the list of computer drives.
Click on "OK" and then close the window.

Click on "Properties" and then navigate to the "Security" tab. Scroll down to the heading labeled as "Permissions."

Click on "Deny" under the "Write" section.

My San Disk micro SDHC Memory Cards 8GB wont format and when put in a device it heats up. What is wrong with it?

technically, some card readers dont have any regulators to minimize the voltage to read a microSD.. some direct card reader can destroy/ damage your memory card.. try to use an all-in-one card reader, or a microSD adaptor then put it in your card reader slot..
Card reader slot in laptops made for memory cards only.. =))

My pny sdhc card wont work, my laptop wont read it and when i put it in my camara it sais card error

You haven't said which camera you have, but your problem is almost certainly a hardware incompatibility. SD cards and SDHC cards look the same and fit the same slots but are technically different.

Your fix is to either stick to a maximum SD capacity of 2GB (some cameras can only cope with 1GB or smaller) or to replace your camera with a later SDHC compliant model and to use an separate (cheap) external SDHC compliant card reader on your laptop.

Has the card worked before. If it is the first time you have tried,is the SD card an SDHC,as some printers will not read these.Try a standard SD card and see if your printer reads that.Hope this helps.

Have a pny micro sdhc 4 gb disk that is not being read by my computer?

From your description, it sounds like the card is faulty, not the computer or the card reader. If you can't get the card to read or write in any device now, then it's probably dead. Is the card reader you're using an SDHC card reader or just a regular SD card reader?

SDHC cards are not backward compatible with normal SD cards..therefore older devices will not recognise them...your built in card reader is probably not sdhc...try downloading directly from camera or use a sdhc usb card reader
