Re: netgear router WGR614

Try using "admin" for the user and "password" for the password. I have this very same router and that was the default settings for me.

I got a router off craigslist if i reset to default doi need the install cd?

You do not need an installation CD.
To RESET the Netgear, power up the Netgear then press andhold the RESET button at the back of the router until all the LEDs flash. Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on yourcomputer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -
The default login = admin
The default PW = password You can now change the admin password and configure thewireless settings.
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

How to create a password?

That is the installation guide for the WGR614. Use step 2 to login to your router. It assumes everything is still set to the defaults. Netgear also has a video guide of installing and configuring the router, which should contain the answer to your question:

Unplug and reset router.....

To log into the web interface of the router, simply plug everything in, load internet explorer and go to . If this is the first setup, you should not even need to type in this address, and router should load automatically to go through the wizard.

Netgear WGR614 Router won't configure to 64 bit Vista

If it's a new router read the book with it and it will tell you how to access the router via internet explorer. Something like this, on the address line of IE enter // and type enter. You will need the default login and password from the manual.

What hould be done to the software dwnloaded from netgear 4 route

You don't need a CD to configure your Netgear wireless router.
Just connect a network cable to your computer's 10baseT port and the plug the other end of the cable into the Netgear's 10baseT port.
Assuming your network card driver has been installed, configured and working, boot up your computer, and start your browser and enter this address Then enter the
user login = admin
password = admin
This enters you into the various configuration pages.

If you have changed the login and password and don't remember them, then you can reset the router to the factory defaults by the following steps.
Power off the Netgear, press and hold the reset button (you need a sharp pointer) on the back of the router, then power up the Netgear router, wait seveal seconds until the LEDs stop flashing, then release the reset button.

My Roadrunner Modem works fine when connected to an individual computer. When connected through my netgear modem I cannot get an internet connection on any computer wired directly to the router

does the modem worked fine with ANY computer connected directly to it, or just ONE computer connected to it?

did you have to install a connection program on one of your computers when you first installed the modem?

do you have an account name and password from your internet service provider, which is required to connect?

How to install with out the cd?

Are you using XP? You shouldn't need the CD.

Gives you information about the USB adapter.

That gives you information about your wireless router.

Do you need a manual to set this up? It looks like there are different version of this wireless router. Which one do you have? This can be identified on the package or the unit's bottom label.

Once we know which version you have we can continue.
